Memory Verse Fun!

Psalm 23:5

Memory Verse: Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. (Psalm 23: 5)

Question: How many have ever seen someone anointed? When someone is anointed the pastor will rub some oil on a part of their body. This could be the forehead, hand, or feet. Normally, you will see a pastor anoint someone by putting oil on the forehead. Some pastors will make the symbol of a cross when they do this. One time, while I was working in the hospital I anointed some nurses and put the oil on their hand. Nurses use their hands for Jesus ever day. They save lives, give shots, give medicine, and take good care of people who are sick. They help make the doctors job easier. Some pastors use oil in a bottle, and others may use something like a cream. I used oil in a jar like cream on the nurses hands in the hospital.

After the pastor anoints someone, he may ask God to touch them physically and heal them, or he may pray a blessing over them. It will depend on why they are being anointed. Take a look at this verse. Lets read it together. (Have written on the board). God will take care of us even among our enemies. He will bless us as we act upon doing whats right in our lives. When God blesses us, it makes us very happy He fills our hearts with the joy of knowing Him. It is good to know that God is watching over us all the time.
