PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBER

Light is guided in the central core of the PCFs. Air hole sizes, spacings between air holes and core diameter are on a micrometer scale.

Photonic crystal fibers(PCF), also know as microstructured fibers or holey fibers, are a completely new range of optical fibers offering significant new possibilities and functionality in the world of speciality fibers in particular and optical components in general. The Photonic Crystal Fiber is a novel kind optical fiber featured by a periodic modulation of refractive index of its clad. This modulation can be realized by holes or by other material rods embedded in the clad. The mechanism of lightwave guidance in a PCF is essentially based on the photonic bandgap effect and total internal reflection. Here, a periodic array of large air holes is being used to trap a guided mode in a pure silica defect (index guidance). The use of such large air holes results in extraordinary dispersion properties for the fibre. The strong wavelength dependency of the effective refractive index and the inherently large design flexibility of the PCFs allows a whole new range of novel properties. Such properties include endlessly singlemoded fibers with anomalous dispersion in the visible wavelength region. We also produce fibers according to specific requirements from our customers.

LARGE MODE AREA PHOTONIC

CRYSTAL FIBER
Advantages Handles high power levels without nonlinearites Low fiber loss Endlessly single-mode Pure silica fiber Easy alignment Applications Single-mode high power delivery Photonic crystal fibers use a microstructured cladding region with air holes to Mode filtering guide light in a pure silica core, giving rise to novel functionalities. Single-mode pigtailing Our large core photonic crystal fiber combines a large effective mode field area Short pulse delivery (~25 m2) and low loss to also high power delivery without nonlinear effects or material damage. With standard technology you have to trade large mode area fibers provide single-mode operation in a large wavelength range. The fiber is available with hermetically sealed ends and connectors of your choice. Cross-section of Fiber Structure Measured Near Field
