Narrative Report

When we were assigned in Land Bank of the Philippines, we were overwhelmed. We felt excitement for we would be experiencing something from the real world knowing that LBP is one of the busiest banks in the country. When we first step our feet in LBP to meet our supervisors, we were like awed because all we thought was it was just a bank per se but we came to realization that there is a sector in there called Development Assistance Center or DAC. Their main function is to give support to the different cooperatives in Region II and Eastern Car. It was bliss when we first started in there, first, we had our briefing with the Chief DAS. She oriented us on the policies of LBP. Then at the second hour, they already gave me my first work as a trainee. I encoded a file called Cooperative Profile. It is a combination of datas concerning different cooperatives. I was so nervous at first because I dont want to commit mistakes for I want to make an impression that I can do what is assigned for me to do with the expected outcome. It was like a challenge to me. Its not that easy to adjust for we dont know yet what kind of personalities our supervisors have. We were trying to read each others attitude. There were times that they would joke around us to test our patience. They also test us how good we are in performing different tasks such as handling calls, faxing documents, filing, and photocopying. They even let us make them coffee. There are times that different departments would ask our supervisors if they could borrow us, we were sent to the Office of the Regional Head and the Operations Center of LBP. Whenever we were borrowed, we get to deal with different task that is first time to us. Because of not knowing what to do they would instruct us first in order to make our task correct. There are times that work to be done is bulky that I dont know what to do first. Sometimes our patience are tested, they would say that something is incorrect with our task even though its right. In order to make our feelings subside we just stay calm for a minute or two and continue our duty. There are times when they accuse us on something that we didnt do like malfunctioning mouse, keyboards, and usb ports. We just say to ourselves All is well an excerpt from the movie 3 Idiots. Sometimes there is no work done due to our supervisors going on fieldworks. They would go from one cooperative to another and when they got to go home and be in the office, our work begins again. We would edit and print Operations Review Reports and send it to the different cooperatives through JRS Express.

Working independently is one of my characteristics that they liked most. They would praise us when there is a job well done. Sometimes they compare us to our co-trainees from different schools. They also look into our discipline, on how we react to different situations. Basing from my experiences in LBP, I can tell that I had grown so much. More than two months stay in LBP honed me to interact with different kind of people. I learned many things from them, wisdom that I could share to others. I can say that I had improved my communication skills, since I get to deal with different people. My self-confidence had improved, I get to meet our supervisors expectations, I get to earn respect from my co-trainees and give my respect to them in return. Some would say it is hard to say goodbye to those who became part of your life even in a short period of time, but it is life. And in every beginning there would always be an end. But the experiences, learning, friendships, would always remain in our memories and in our hearts.
