What you do touches you and touches others.

Doug Fowler DG 2011-2012 Look out District 5300 and the world in general, Doug Fowler is now in control and he plans to build bigger, better, bolder clubs. The fire truck project in Mexico saved a boys life by utilizing ladders to reach a tree. The fire trucks were outdated for the City of Apple Valley and through a matching grant program they were purchased for $30,000 each. He was also instrumental in getting a woman an artificial leg after she was involved in a car accident. His vision is a multi-faceted club that contributes not only at the community level, but at a global impact level as well. Partnering with other clubs to begin larger project is one way to have Bigger, Bolder Clubs! The need for stronger, larger membership was not overlooked as an important component to our success. Polio is his focus; The Gates Foundation focus; and of course, Rotarys as well. We are close to eradicating polio. In fact there have been no new cases reported in India in five months. Doug Fowler is here District 5300! He has bigger, bolder plans for us and will guide us toward success and follow the theme:Reach Within To Embrace Humanity.

Rotary Trivia Submitted by Rotarian Al McCombs There have been six Rotary International presidents from California. Known best in Chino was attorney Bill Walk of the Ontario Club who served 1970-71. The first was Almon E. Roth of Palo Alto (1930-31. Others were Charles E. Wheeler of San Francisco (1943-44), H.J. Brunnier of San Francisco (1952-53), Stanley E. McCaffrey of Stockton (1981-82) and Clifford L. Dochterman of Moraga (1992-93). In 2004 the Rotary motto was changed from He profits most to They profit most who serve the best, in recognition of the women members When the Chino Rotary Club was chartered in 1925, the number of clubs in Rotary International reached 2,000. The first five Rotary Clubs were Chicago, San Francisco, Oakland, Seattle and Los Angeles. San Diego is number 33, Sacramento number 97.Within one year of its founding in 2005, the Chicago Rotary Club had to stop rotating among the offices of its members and move to a central meeting club because so many were joining. The first Rotary breakfast clubs started in the 1970s. The minimum age for Rotary membership is 18. District 5300 reaches from the east Los Angeles city boundary to Lincoln, Clark and part of Nye county Nevada. Silvia Whitlock of the Duarte Club was the first female Rotary club president. Her club was the first club in 1976 to admit women, was kicked out by Rotary International for violating its bylaws, then reinstated when the Supreme Court upheld the California Supreme Courts decision approving application of the Unruh anti-discrimination law barring discrimination in business activities.

THE GOLDEN RULE By Witt K. Cochrane American Writer The vital thing in life after your wife an kids are cared for is the Golden Rule. It is as good a religion as the human mind can conceive. You wont interfere with anybody elses religion, politics, or family life. People will rely on you absolutely. They will know that they have nothing to expect from you but good. April 1913
