INTRODUCTION:
Positive thinking is a mental attitude that admits into the mind thoughts, words and images that are conductive to growth, expansion and success. It is a mental attitude that expects good and favorable results. A positive mind anticipates happiness, joy, health and a successful outcome of every situation and action. Whatever the mind expects, it finds. Not everyone accepts or believes in positive thinking. Some consider the subject as just nonsense, and others laugh at people who believe and accept it. Among the people who accept it, not many know how to use it effectively to get results. Yet, it seems that many are becoming attracted to this subject, as evidenced by the many books, lectures and courses about it. This is a subject that is gaining popularity. It is quite common to hear people say: "Think positive! to someone who feels down and worried. Most people do not take these words seriously, as they do not know what they really mean, or do not consider them as useful and effective. Positive thinking phrases empower people and let them take control of what to believe. "I think I will." This is probably the most recognizable positive thinking phrase today. Most of us know the story of "the little engine that could". Most of us have heard as kids about how the little engine was able to climb the big mountain just by thinking that it could. Today, in our adult life, we encounter our own mountains. Your hill could be a job application. It could be the presentation you're going to have to give your boss tomorrow. You could consider your next exams to be your hill. Whatever your hill is, if you think you can't climb it, you won't be able to.

Students love to label some classes as "impossible". This label gives them the excuse not to study anymore. However, that's all they give themselves..By looking at your hill in life and thinking about how impossible the climb is, you will be limiting yourself. Positive thinking phrases can help you overcome your mountains in life. First of all, the act of saying a positive thinking phrase to yourself may distract you from the intimidating task at hand and enable you to just react. By saying "I think I can" to yourself and just taking step after step to overcome your hill, you will take your mind off the impossibility of the task and just do it. By forgetting about the impossibility of the task and focusing on your inner battle of will, you might wake up to find that you have already finished the task at hand. Positive thinking phrases also help you by strengthening your belief. If you say a positive thinking phrase enough times, you might be able to stir up your belief and really achieve your goal. You will be emboldened by the words. People sometimes take the power of words for granted. However, when you think about it, words have a very big impact in our lives. Words help us shape our wills and allow us to reach our target. By repeating a positive thinking phrase, we trigger a response within ourselves that help us forget everything but the strength of our wills. A positive thinking phrase will help us believe and, as people will tell you, belief is a very powerful thing. In fact, belief is the core of the effect of the positive thinking phrase. People make use of positive thinking phrases not because of the auditory value. If people did that, then they would just record a phrase and have it played over and over again. People make use of positive thinking phrases to help them believe. The act of saying a phrase helps them believe that the positive thinking phrase holds a grain of truth deep inside them. The positive thinking phrase helps people by letting them own the words and allowing them to dictate what they can and cannot do.

In order for a positive thinking phrase to work, you need to believe it when you say it. You say a positive thinking phrase not for others to hear it, but for you to believe it.

Research Of Different Universities And People To Support The Topic:

(A) A team of researchers from University of Oregon, Stanford, University of Texas and University of Arizona published a 2006 research paper stating that the man's optimism or pessimism predicts the satisfaction level of a relationship between dating couples. Conclusion of research: Result stated that the more optimistic the guy, the happier is the couple. Specifically, the couples with an optimistic male partner reported that their arguments were more constructive than destructive. Those couples also perceived high levels of support from partners, a valuable commodity in anyone's romantic world. (B) University of North Carolina study, nearly 7,000 students who took personality tests in the mid-1960s were followed over four decades. Conclusion of research: The researchers found people who were categorized as pessimists to be 42 percent more likely to die before roughly age 65 than those students who tested out as optimists. Two Dutch studies using dispositional optimism or future expectations as the guide found similar results: Optimists were 55 percent less likely to die from heart disease and optimists between 65 to 85

were 45 percent less likely to die over the following nine years than pessimists in the same age group. (C) University of Pennsylvania Positive Psychology Center Conclusion of research: The researchers have documented that optimistic candidates have won U.S. presidential races 80 percent of the time, including Barack Obama, who was judged "clearly becoming more positive" than John McCain by the end of the third debate on Oct. 15. (D) University of Kentucky psychologist and researcher Suzanne Segerstrom published a study of 90 law school students. Conclusion of research: It showed that by mid semester of the first year of law school, optimists had a greater number of helper T-cells than pessimistic students. T-cells are deemed to be the immune system's primary protectors against viruses and even some cancers. The more positive students also tested higher for natural killer T-cells that help the body to fight off cancer cells.

A partial test of this framework is made in an 18-month study of 272 employees. Conclusion of research:

Results indicate that positive emotion on the job at time one is associated with evidence of work achievement (more favorable supervisor evaluations and higher pay) and a supportive social context(more support from supervisors and coworkers) at a time. They stated that how positive emotions helps employees obtain favorable outcomes at work. They propose that feeling and expressing positive emotions on the job have favorable consequences on: 1. Employees independent of their relationships with others. 2. Reactions of others to employees (e.g., halo or overgeneralization to other desirable traits) 3. Reactions of employees to others (e.g. helping others). These three sets of intervening processes are proposed, that leads to work achievement, job enrichment and a higher quality social context.

Positive Thinking Is Contagious:

All of us affect, in one way or another, the people we meet. This happens instinctively and on a subconscious level, through thoughts and feelings transference, and through body language. People sense our aura and are affected by our thoughts, and vice versa. Is it any wonder that we want to be around positive people and avoid negative ones? People are more disposed to help us if we are positive, and they dislike and avoid anyone broadcasting negativity. Negative thoughts, words and attitude bring up negative and unhappy moods and actions. When the mind is negative, poisons are released into the blood, which cause more unhappiness and negativity. This is the way to failure, frustration and disappointment. People around you pick your mental moods and are affected accordingly. Think about happiness, good health and success, and you will cause people to like you and desire to help you, because they enjoy the vibrations that a positive mind emits. In order to make positive thinking yield results, you need to develop a positive attitude toward life, expect a successful outcome of whatever you do, but also take any necessary actions to ensure your success.

Practical Instructions
In order to turn the mind toward the positive, inner work and training are required. Attitude and thoughts do not change overnight. The power of thoughts is a mighty power that is always shaping our life. This shaping is usually done subconsciously, but it is possible to make the process a conscious one. Even if the idea seems strange give it a try, as you have nothing to lose, but only to gain. Ignore what others might say or think about you, if they discover that you are changing the way you think. Always visualize only favorable and beneficial situations. Use positive words in your inner dialogues or when talking with others. Smile a little more, as this helps to think positively. Disregard any feelings of laziness or a desire to quit. If you persevere, you will transform the way your mind thinks. Once a negative thought enters your mind, you have to be aware of it and endeavor to replace it with a constructive one. The negative thought will try again to enter your mind, and then you have to replace it again with a positive one. It is as if there are two pictures in front of you, and you choose to look at one of them and disregard the other. Persistence will eventually teach your mind to think positively and ignore negative thoughts. In case you feel any inner resistance when replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, do not give up, but keep looking only at the beneficial, good and happy thoughts in your mind. It does not matter what your circumstances are at the present moment. Think positively, expect only favorable results and situations, and circumstances will change accordingly. It may take some time for the changes to take place, but eventually they do. Another method to employ is the repetition of affirmations. It is a method which resembles creative visualization, and which can be used in conjunction with it. It is the subject of another article on this website. The other articles at this website, about the power of concentration, will power, self-discipline and peace of mind also contribute to the development of a positive mind, and are recommended for reading and practicing. Positive thinking brings inner peace, success, improved relationships, better health, happiness and satisfaction. It also helps the daily affairs of life move more smoothly, and makes life look bright and promising.

Few Actions And Tips To Help You Develop The Power Of Positive Thinking:
Always use only positive words while thinking and while talking. Use words such as, 'I can', 'I am able', 'it is possible', 'it can be done', etc. Allow into your awareness only feelings of happiness, strength and success. Try to disregard and ignore negative thoughts. Refuse to think such thoughts, and substitute them with constructive happy thoughts. In your conversation use words that evoke feelings and mental images of strength, happiness and success. Before starting with any plan or action, visualize clearly in your mind its successful outcome. If you visualize with concentration and faith, you will be amazed at the results. Read at least one page of inspiring book every day. Watch movies that make you feel happy. Minimize the time you listen to the news and read the papers. Associate yourself with people who think positively. Always sit and walk with your back straight. This will strengthen your confidence and inner strength. Walk, swim or engage in some other physical activity. This helps to develop a more positive attitude.

Think positive and expect only favorable results and situations, even if your current circumstances are not as you wish them to be. In time, your mental attitude will affect your life and circumstances and change them accordingly.

Example:
There were two candidates who applied for a job hamza and asad. Hamza self-esteem was low, and he considered himself as a failure and unworthy of success, he was sure that he was not going to get the job. He had a negative attitude towards himself, and believed that the other applicants were better and more qualified than him. Hamza had this attitude, due to his negative

past experiences with job interviews. His mind was filled with negative thoughts and fears concerning the job for the whole week before the job interview. He was sure he would be rejected. On the day of the interview he got up late, and to his horror he discovered that the shirt he had planned to wear was dirty, and the other one needed ironing. As it was already too late, he went out wearing a shirt full of wrinkles. During the interview he was tense, displayed a negative attitude, worried about his shirt, and felt hungry because he did not have enough time to eat breakfast. All this distracted his mind and made it difficult for him to focus on the interview. His overall behavior made a bad impression, and consequently he materialized his fear and did not get the job. Asad applied for the same job too, but approached the matter in a different way. He was sure that he was going to get the job. During the week preceding the interview he often visualized himself making a good impression and getting the job. In the evening before the interview he prepared the clothes he was going to wear, and went to sleep a little earlier. On day of the interview he woke up earlier than usual, and had ample time to eat breakfast, and then to arrive to the interview before the scheduled time. He got the job because he made a good impression. He had also of course, the proper qualifications for the job, but so had Hamza.

Difference in the body language of the two:

Firstly we see that Hamzas attitude from the beginning was not positive where as Asad was positive and had positive frame of mind that he would get the job. Secondly when we look at the approaches of both the candidates we see that hamza was not prepared for the interview he did ironed his shirt didnt managed his time and wasnt able to have his breakfast where as Asad was prepared for it he managed his time properly and had confidence that he would get the job.

Conclusion:

When the attitude is positive we entertain pleasant feelings and constructive images, and see in our mind's eye what we really want to happen. This brings brightness to the eyes, more energy and happiness. The whole being broadcasts good will, happiness and success. Even the health is affected in a beneficial way. We walk tall and the voice is more powerful. Our body language shows the way you feel inside. By looking at the many different research conducted by the different universities it proves that positive thing can change your life it can make you successful in achieving your goals and objectives. A little change in the attitude can change everything by just saying its possible the functioning of the whole body changes and your mind starts to work in a different direction, by believing that the word impossible came up from the word possible it would motivate you to get that task completed successfully. I would like to conclude with an example that recently happened that at one point of time when I was searching for the topic I could not find the material to support my topic but thanks to the advice of my friends and teacher specially to take this topic and make little more effort to find it that positive line made me complete this research paper.

The positive thinker sees the invisible, intangible and achieves the impossible.
