Nature of the company
It is India's largest in industrial paint and second largest decorative paint company based in Mumbai. It is engaged in the industrial, automotive and powder coating business. It develops and supplies paint systems used on the finishing lines of electrical components, cycle, and material handling equipments, bus bodies, containers and furniture industries.

CSR Initiatives
Essentially, CSR focuses on four core areas of Health, Education, Community Development and Environment Presentation. The CSR concerns taken up by KNPL are pertinent in the current scenario and have been supported by employee volunteers at different locations wherever viable. Employee involvement in these initiatives is beneficial as it builds up a positive image for the company, and creates a sense of pride amongst them.

Health
The objective is to support various activities towards improving and generating awareness about general health & primary health care to the general masses, and the people residing within the vicinity of our plants.

Activities
It is important to create general awareness about health issues, especially in the rural areas. We have been focusing on ways to address various health issues faced by the people in areas where our manufacturing units are located. Various activities are carried out to address the health related issues faced by all segments of society. This is done through the support of doctors/ NGOs within the vicinity of our plants and coordinated by our employees.

Free Medical Health Check Up Camp at Jainpur


The main aim of Medical Health Check Up Camp was to provide Medical consultation & advice by specialist doctors and conduct pathology tests for the villagers of Mati village, and poor people who were not able to afford Medical Services and also were not aware of the diseases.

Eye Camp organised by Perungudi Factory


Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd, Perungudi Factory organised a Free Eye Screening Camp at Bharath Dass Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Perungudi with the support of Dr. Agarwal Eye Hospital & Lions Club of Chennai Eden Dist 324 A-1. The camp was well attended by the local residents and around 350 persons were screened. The beneficiaries were extremely satisfied with the personal care each one of them experienced & thanked the organisers for the arrangements.

Prakash, Works Manager of the Kansai Nerolac Perungudi factory in an exclusive interview with the press said It gives us immense satisfaction to provide such Healthcare benefits to our neighbouring residents. At Kansai Nerolac, we operate with the concept of a Triple Bottom Line meaning companys focus will be towards Economic Prosperity (Profit), Environmental Quality (Planet) & also Social Capital (People). We believe in carrying out activities ourselves rather than being just a mere funding agency. The active part taken by our employees in organising this camp is proof enough. Mr. S. Participation in AIDS Awareness Camp by Bawal


KNPL,in association with one of the NGOs in Rewari, Bawal unit participated in a Rally flaged off by the DC. Slogan and Poster competition was also organized on this day.

Support for Health Camp for Senior Citizens by Lote Factory


Lions Club of Parshuram (a branch of well known NGO Lions Club International) had requested for financial assistance for sponsoring the Health Camp at Lote / Awashi areas. The camp comprised of various tests like blood sugar, eye check up and bone marrow. The camp was aimed at Senior Citizens.

Medical Camps at Depots


Free Medical Camps were organized between December09 and March10 at 22 depots. A total no. of 1000 people participated in this camp through 268 dealers. The check ups included eye test, height and weight measurement, blood sugar tests and were conducted through certified medical specialists.

Thalassaemic Children Welfare Association, is an organization affiliated to Federation of Indian Thalassemics, New Delhi and Thalassemia International Federation Nicosia(Cyprus) which works towards fighting against culminating this disease. Kansai Nerolac Paints Ltd. provided financial assistance for facilitating complete treatment to Thalassaemics so that they can lead a normal life.

Education
KNPL has been supporting education related projects in the neighbouring villages around our factories. There has been a focus on educating girl child & children residing at these locations.

Activities
KNPL understands the significance of education and has been working with educational institutions to impart education to children particularly residing in backward areas. The goal is to work towards socio- economic development of the weaker sections of the society.

Financial Assistance was provided to the Bombay Community Public Trust for e- teaching aid projects for vernacular schools in Maharashtra. This aims at training the teachers in English language through the means of technology. The contribution made will help in the cause of improving literacy of the poorer sections of the society. Donation was provided to Kherwadi Social Welfare Association(KESWA) . One of the main activities of KESWA is Yuva Parivartan which provides vocational training and assists students for self employment. This focuses more on school drop outs from high schools who may not get the opportunity for joining any training institute.

Snehalay Trust
The organization provided support to Snehalaya Trust which provides shelter and education to ensure rehabilitation of children from red light areas. Financial Assistance was provided to the United Educational & Social Welfare Trust which runs special school for the severely disabled orphaned children and provides education and vocational training to them.

Distribution of School Bags at Jainpur


Distribution of 100 School Bags to School Children was done at Nabipur Primary School, in Kanpur Dehat area. The main idea was to support and promote the importance of education and to motivate the school children, who were deprived of the basic amenities. Activities at Hosur P.U.M. School is a small corporation school situated in Moranapalli village of Hosur approx.1.5 kms from the Hosur factory premises. The school lacked basic amenities. In this regard, representatives from KNPL in association with Local Tahsildar and Proj. Director of NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) took up the initiative of provision of basic infrastructure at the school. A water tank of 1000 litres was provided for the school kitchen along with a water pipleline with 4 water taps. A 500 litres water tank has been fixed for providing toilet facility for children. Floor leveling of the main gate of the school has been done, thus helping to lock the gate properly and there by improving safety.

Community Development
As a responsible corporate citizen, KNPL has been supporting programs for the upliftment of the society as a whole. Through our initiatives, we aim to provide basic facilities to the community around our manufacturing locations so that there can be a sustained improvement in their living standards.

Key Activities
Financial assistance was given to Mumbai based Our Ladys home, an orphanage for boys. The residential institutition works towards helping the needy in the field of education and self employment. Financial help was given to Jeevan Sandhya Mangalya Sansthan Trust for providing basic facilities to old age home residents.

Distribution of Blankets to Underprivileged CSR activity of Distribution of 200 Blankets to the underprivileged and poorer section of the society was carried out at Bewan Village, near Jainpur in the wake of unprecedented cold waves hitting the Northern region of India. The main objective was to extend a helping hand to the needy persons, who were deprived of the basic warm wear to protect themselves from the severe cold. The Chief Guest of the event was Mr. S. P. Anand ( ADM ), who appreciated the efforts of the organization in providing the basic needs of the society, under such severe conditions.

Installation of hand pumps in villages of Jainpur Dehat Two Hand Pumps were installed in Nabipur and Jainpur, nearby villages of Jainpur factory. The aim was to provide solution to persistent water scarcity issues at villages. The valuable contribution from our Operators towards allocating a suitable place for installation was appreciable.

Environment Preservation
The organization is well aware of the environmental concerns and through CSR initiatives, works towards initiatives for conservation of water resources and provide clean and green environment.

Key Activities
Vireshwar Mitra Mandal Seva Sanstha had approached us for helping them in their social cause of increasing awareness about environment by displaying Environment related boards to make people aware of environment aspects such as hazards of using plastic, waste management. Chipluns Navkonkan Education Society had requested for providing financial assistance for creating awareness on environmental aspects by displaying the board on Mumbai Goa Highway for indicating temperature, humidity, slogans on road safety.

Nature of the company
Shalimar Paints is the India's oldest paint company based in Mumbai. The company engaged in manufacturing and marketing of paints, industrial coatings, aviation coatings, marine paints and coatings for metal decoration, and food can lacquers

CSR Initiatives
Environment policy
Shalimar shall comply with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations. Shalimar shall endeavour to operate all the plants and facilities in a manner to ensure a clean and healthy environment. Shalimar shall strive to achieve reduction of wastage and ensure optimize resource utilization through source reduction, recycle or reuse of waste. Shalimar shall impart training and education to all employees to work in a manner which maximizes protection of the environment.

Social welfare
The Company runs a high School at Howrah where it imparts free education to boys and girls from Class 1 to Class X. Besides this it also organizes various cultural activities for its staff all across the country.
