AVID Entry Contract I, , understand that AVID is an elective course for college bound students who have a desire

to do well and go on to a four year college. Because of this, it is important for students to maintain certain responsibilities in order to remain in the class. I understand that a primary factor in staying on the path to college is to consistently demonstrate commitment and effort, even when I struggle in a class or do poorly on a grade report. Therefore, my reaction to setbacks and consistent effort are responsibilities that I must maintain in order to stay in AVID. Specifically, I know I must: Complete all the AVID requirements Maintain at least a C in my AVID class. Complete the required community service hours per year. Participate in and complete AVID curriculum. Be A-G eligible Maintain (at least a) C grade in each A-G class. If a grade in any class falls below a C, I will take the following steps: o Go to office hours or Students for Success every week if I have a D or F for any class in a progress report until that grade improves. o Make a plan to make up the course if I am not able to raise the D or F. Demonstrate strength of character Consistently show motivation and be willing to work hard. Show effective effort and use available resources to improve. Be willing to challenge myself. Maintain satisfactory citizenship and attendance in all classes. To be a member of the AVID program, all students must fulfill all their responsibilities. If I do not maintain these basic standards, I will be put on a probationary contract and potentially exited from the AVID program.
