WILDLAND FIRE MANAGEMENT

Once again, we are partnering with the Tuba City Church of Christ to provide firewood to residents of the Hopi and Navajo nations. The Church has volunteers from across the country come to Tuba City throughout the summer, and in turn, they send some to Flagstaff to assist our crew pile thinning debris/slash in exchange for wood the crew cuts that day. The wood is then transported back to Tuba City by the volunteers and distributed to area residents the next fall. Last year, over 500 cords of firewood was moved to Tuba City from our project areas. A GREAT partnership for all concerned!

7/20/11- MT Elden Rescue Members of Flag Fire, Guardian Medical Transport and CCSO Search & Rescue hiked the Fat Man Loop trail to rescue a 64 year old female hiker who had fallen and hit her head. They were able to safely carry her down the steep rocky terrain in a wheeled basket. In total it took 11 FFD, 3 GMT and 7 CCSO S&R personnel to safely deliver the patient to the trailhead where she was transported to FMC.
