XENAXERImportUtilityisautilityusedwithOraclePrimaveraProjectManagementwhichprovides userstheabilitytoreviewandmodifyPrimaveraXERfilespriortoimportingtheXERfilesintoa productiondatabase.Thistoolmakesitsafertoimportprojectsfromnonproductiondatabasesby mappingcodesfromtheXERfiletocodesinyourproductiondatabasesorbymappingthecodestoa desirednamingconvention.Thisutilityisnotdesignedtocreatenewcodesthatdonotexistinthe receivingdatabaseasthereisnowaytoinputtheneededunderlyingelements. XENAXERgivesyouanaddedlevelofsecurityforyourproductiondata.XERfilescanbesafelyimported intoyourdatabasewithouttheriskofcorruptingtheproductionconfiguration.Thissavesthetimeand energyofimportingXERfilesintoastagingdatabaseandcleaningupnonstandardcodes,resources, calendarsandUnitsofMeasure. XERtoolmaybeusefultomigratePrimaverav4.0XERfilestolaterversions,butatthecurrentXERtool releasethereisnoattempttoadjustforthelackofanActivityCodescopefieldinthev4.0XERfile layout.ItisrecommendednottomakechangestotheActivityCodescopeinv4.0XERfiles.

AlltabshaveaLastImportStatusfieldthatdisplaysNewforanyvaluesnewtothetemplateasofthe lastimportanddisplaysMissingforanyvaluesnotfoundinthemostrecentimportareinthe template.Ifavaluewasrenamed,thenewvaluewillhaveastatusofNewandtheoldvaluewillhave astatusofMissing.

WiththeXERfileimportedintoXENA,thePrimaveraversionoftheXERfilewillbedisplayedonthe GeneralTab. SelectaNewVersionfromthedropdownboxtoindicatethePrimaveraversionofthe destinationdatabasewherethecleanedXERfilewillbeimported.XENAXERwillmakethe modificationsrequiredtoallowmorerecentversionstobeimportedintoolderPrimavera databases. {Forexample,normallyP6willnotallowa6.1filetobeimportedtoa6.0database}.

ATextPrefixcanbeenteredthatcanbeautomaticallyappliedtoanyoralloftheXERcode structuresshowninthePrefixesbox.Prefixesareautomaticallyappliedduringimport. 1. EnteraPrefixandselectthecheckboxestheprefixshouldbeappliedto. a. Ifyouenternoprefix,thentheimportwillimportallcodeswithanactionof DontChange. b. Ifyouenteraprefix,andcheckoneoftheboxes,Importwilluseanaction ofChangeonallchangedcodesPLUSitwilllisttheactualcodethatwillbe exported. c. ClicktheActivityCodestabtomodifyorviewtheActivityCodes.OnceanXERfilehasbeen imported,theActivityCodescontainedintheXERfilewillbedisplayedonthistab.TheLeft SectionofthetabshowsthevaluesimportedfromtheXERfile.TheRightSectionofthetab showsthevaluesthatwillbeexportedtothenewXERfile. TheNewActivityCodecolumnonthefarrightshowshowtheActivityCodewillbewrittenin thenewfile.Tochangeanactivitycodeortomapittoanactivitycodeinyourdestination database,simplyeditthisfieldtobethevaluedesired.Alternativelyaprefixcanbeassignedto allthecodesusingthefunctionalityontheGeneraltab.

TheScopecolumnintheleftsectionshowswhethereachactivitycodeisGlobal,EPSorProject initsscope.TheNewScopecolumnintherightsectionisusedtochangethenewactivitycode toadifferentscope.UsuallythiswillbeusedtochangeanactivitycodefromGlobaltoProject. WhenchanginganactivitycodetoProjectscope,theuserMUSTspecifyaNewProjectShort Name.ThissimplyindicatestowhichprojectintheXERfiletheactivitycodeshouldbe attached.
