Mission Statement
To assist the NUS MBA cohort in understanding finance and the financial industry, preparing club members for a career in finance, and fostering relationships between the club and the financial industry.

My vision for the club

1. FINANCEDEMYSTIFIEDINVITEPROFESSORSANDSTUDENTSTODISCUSSFINANCEOUTSIDETHECLASSROOM ANDGETTOKNOWTHEMTHROUGHNETWORKINGANDINFORMALSESSIONS Aim: To introduce NUS MBA students to the world of finance. Geared to the entire community, this will be achieved through Q&A sessions with seniors about finance internships,orinformalgatheringswithstudentsandfacultymemberstodemystifycareer optionsinfinanceandanswersimplequestionssuchaswhatcareeroptionsareavailable and what skill sets do I need? What is the difference between investment banking and privateequity? 2. FINANCIALMODELLINGWORKSHOPS Aim: To assist the NUS MBA cohort in excel usage, required for all aspiring managers and businessleaders.Incooperationwithotherclubs,Iwillensurethattheentirecohortisable toobtainenoughexcelknowledgetobuildsimplefinancialmodels.Furtherlessonswillbe gearedtowardsthoseintendingtodevelopfurthercareersinfinance. 3. BLOOMBERGTRAINING Aim:Ifyouintendtoworkinthefinancialindustry,thisisanapplicationthatyouwillmost certainly come across. Instead of spending extra days learning on the job, I will invite a BloombergtrainertocoverthebasicsofusingaBloombergterminalandthebasicfunctions relatedtotypicalassetclassessuchasequities,debtandderivatives.Amustifyouintendto workintheindustry,andonethatwillhelpyouinyourfinanceclasses! 4. ACETHATFINANCEINTERVIEWINTERVIEWPRACTICEWORKSHOPS

Aim: For aspiring career switchers into finance, these sessions will give a flavour of what firmslookforinhiringpotentialcandidates.Inconjunctionwithcareerservices,Iwillbring inrecruitmentexperts,orformerandcurrentindustryprofessionalstoadviseoninterview experiencesandconductinterviewpracticesessionsgearedtowardsMBAstudentswishing topursuecareersinfinance. 5. REACHOUTTOALUMNIINTHEFINANCEINDUSTRY,ANDINVITETHEMTOTALKTOCURRENTSTUDENTSABOUT THEIRCAREERVIAMENTORINGANDNETWORKING Aim: To liaise with GANO, the Alumni Relations Team and the MBA office to strengthen relationships with alumni young and old. While we continue to strengthen relationships with our alumni, this will further seek to develop ties especially for those intending to pursue a career in finance. Via roundtables or social events, current students can ask questionstoalumniintheindustryaboutcareertracksanddevelopsustainingrelationships thatwilllastaftergraduation. 6. STUDENTFUNDSTARTUPANDIMPLEMENTATION Aim:Aninitiativeofthepreviousbatch,thisisanareathatIwillseektoimplementthisyear. The studentfundwillgive current students ataste offundmanagement,andat the same time,anyprofitsfromthefundwillbegivenbacktotheclubtodevelopnewideas,andhave moreevents! 7. FINANCECONFERENCE:INVITESPEAKERS,INCLUDINGINDUSTRYEXPERTSANDPROFESSIONALSTODISCUSSTHE FINANCIALWORLD Aim: I intend to lay the foundation for a one or two day conference gathering industry professionals,expertsandregulatorstodiscusseventsinthefinancialworld.Thiswillbean excellentopportunityforstudentstolearnaboutrealworldissuesandtalktotheexpertsin theAsianregionaboutthegrowingfinanceandeconomicsfield.Thiswould,intime,bean eventthatthestudentbodytakesasmuchpride inasCerebrationandIwouldliketo drawonthestrengthsoftheentirestudentbodytomakethispossible.
