Tyler and Candace Collins started attending First Assembly in the spring of 2010, and have felt at home from the beginning. They were high school sweethearts and have been married just over 6 years. Tyler and Candace have 2 kids, Madison and Cooper. Madison will be 4 on December 22nd. She is kind of shy at first, but with time she becomes a very big sweetheart. She enjoys being active and learning. She is such a joy! In light of her high interest in learning, she will be starting a Kindergarten homeschool program this year. Cooper will be 2 on December 16th. He loves his trucks, and has to take one where ever he goes! He is becoming very vocal and picking up new words and phrases everyday; he is such a ham!

September is nearly here and Operation Go is picking up steam. What is Operation Go? Glad you ask. During the month of September we are going to live out Matt 28:19 which says to Go Gods Word says we are to go and preach the gospel to all people. There is more there but everything is predicated on going. Every Sunday we will emphasize areas that all center around our theme verse. We are on the 4th of September going to prayer. Im asking you to prayer walk your neighborhood during this week and or have other Christians in your neighborhood to come over and have about hour or so of prayer for your unsaved neighbors. It helps the believers of your area to concentrate on the lost. Then sometime this week we are going to ask our neighbors to come to church with us. Ask them to sit with you in church and then have lunch together. On September 11th we are beginning two new classes in Christian education. Our Foundations class that teaches the basics of the faith and a class on parenting girls by James Dobson. Our childrens church department will begin a new Faith Case curriculum that day as well on the Beatitudes. During the week leading up to the 18th we are going to be inviting folks about coming back to church. They say there are 25 million Christians in America that are unchurched. I have five families already that I know that are just out of church. Lets
work on getting them back into fellowship with Gods people. Then during the week leading up to the 25th we want to invite our coworkers, students and just other folks that need Christ. On the 25th we will have our Friends Day services and all followed by a new and expanded picnic and games for everyone. I think we can have over 200 visitors during September with Gods help and see folks renewed in the walk with the Lord and many come to Christ. I cant wait to see what God will do when we simply Go -Pastor Chuck

Our Goal: Lets have 200 visitors during the month of September! Royal Rangers and Girls Ministries are back in full swing again! We had a blast at our Back to School Splash Bash at Splash Zone on August 17th, and hit the ground running on August 24th. If you have a child in need of discipleship, please bring them every Wednesday night @ 7pm and help them grow in body, mind and spirit. Watch and see what the Lord will do in their lives! Extreme Tween Week was a great success and we had a great time despite the near 100 degree days. We visited Ha Ha Tonka State Park, the Universal Challenge Center, Lane Spring (to cool off), The City Museum and ended our week at Big Surf and a lock-in at the church. Each day we spent some time in a brief devotional, to remind us what was most important that week. Thanks to all of our interns and Sam Parker, who really helped make this week an incredible experience for our kids. Cant wait until next year!!! -Brian Feller

Glorious Impossible is the title of this years musical. Just think about it, to our human minds everything about the birth of Jesus is impossible. God chose to send His own Son to earth as a baby impossible. He chose to have Jesus born of a virgin impossible. He chose to have His own Son crucified on the cross for our redemption impossible. Jesus was raised from the dead impossible. He walked on water, healed the sick, turned water into wine, was bruised for our transgressions, was raised for our salvation and His righteousness is ours impossible. However, with God NOTHING is impossible because we serve a Mighty God! We ask all of you age 12 and up who love to sing to please come and be a part of this joy-
ful celebration of Jesus, whom the songwriter calls the Glorious Impossible. We want at least 60 singers to fill the tree. Rehearsals begin Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4:00 PM in room 107 in the lower level. Performances will be Friday night through Sunday night, December 9th, 10th and 11th. There is a signup sheet in the foyer. -Betty May
We had our final night of Movies in the Park on August 6th. We had an amazing turnout over the summer for this event. Thank you to all who came, and to all of my church family that made it possible for us to do this. We saw many people from our community that dont attend a church come and fellowship with us, and are already asking if we will be doing this again next summer! What a great work and favor God has shown us to the people of our community. -Brian Feller
All Night Prayer is a time to lay aside all the hats we tend to wear in day to day life and put on the armor of God and fight. It is time to offer ourselves as a sacrifice before God and say Lord, here I am, send me. It is an opportunity to express our hunger for His presence and sit for a while as we wait on Him to feed us. It is a time where we can find healing, deliverance, restoration and change. I know All Night Prayer is changing lives. It has certainly changed mine. Can you come to all night prayer and sit for a while and wait on the Lord? He will not disappoint you. Then next All Night Prayer is September 16, 8pm-3am. -Carol Hudler

The Greek word soteria has the following meanings: 1. deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation 2. deliverance from the molestation of enemies 3. in an ethical sense, that which concludes to the souls safety or salvation of Messianic salvation It is a word that has a basic implication of spaciousness and gives a picture of being positioned in a place where we are allowed to develop spiritually. In the Old Testament the word salvation presents the image of a definite act of God that delivers His people into a place that is wide open for them to experience His peace, freedom and wholeness and is seen clearly in the name Yahweh. Salvation is the continuous releasing of Gods provision, protection and prosperity for His people. Imagine a caged dove that has been delivered from the bondage of the cage and released into a spacious field where she can move and breathe and fly and thrive. We, Gods people, are like that dove. We have been set free from the bondage of sin and delivered into Gods continuous provision where we see Him established in our lives unto peace and righteousness in living for Him. Accordingly he brought me to this place where I have found freedom, wholeness and service unto Him. The LORD delivered me and positioned me to move freely in a relationship with Him. I am no longer caged and bound to sin, and I can walk in a wide open relationship with Jesus. According to the synoptics, salvation is growth in the kingdom of God. I am delivered from darkness into the light, from death to life, from the stronghold of Satan to the kingdom of God. And I am translated from a spiritually destructive life into a life that is spiritually prosperous. I no longer think in terms of the world. I now live for Jesus and the advancement of His kingdom. My thoughts, actions, and focus are on His glory. Salvation, as used in the Pauline letters, is understood as justification, sanctification and glorification. I experienced justification when I came to Jesus as a broken sinner and asked for His forgiveness. I find sanctification, which is a dedication and consecration of continually growing in Him. It is striving for more of Him and giving myself in service to him. I conform to the Holy Spirit and separate from the world, consecrating myself unto Jesus. Then, as I now have a new awareness of
myself as a member of Gods chosen, I understand that I am daily being restored unto the likeness Jesus Christ. This occurs as I walk with Him in obedience and move toward that day where I will be completely restored in the likeness of Christ. My first act in experiencing this new identity is repentance. This begins the ongoing relationship with Christ. I identify with Him through water baptism. This declares to others that it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. It is symbolic of the death of the old self and resurrection of the new person who has been made new in Christ. I now know myself as a child of God and that is expressed in my longing for Him and my reliance upon Him and my willingness to obey Him. As the day of His return draws near, there is no fear for the one who lives in readiness, which is expressed in prayer worship, obedience and service. Some noticeable realities of salvation in Jesus are: Destructive habits begin to be broken An attitude of other-centeredness instead of self-centeredness A desire to fellowship with other Christ followers Illumination of Gods word Prayer replaces idle talk Obedience replaces rebellion Jesus becomes my focus Would you like to learn more about these and other important tenets of our faith? Its not too late to join us in the Foundations class, room 110 after the first service.

The Phoenix trip was really an eye opener. The group went there really wanting to just compete and win, as I'm sure is what everybody from other churches did also. But being there really helped me, and us, realize that even though it was a competition, we were there for a bigger reason and that was to praise God and to praise Him with the talents He has given all of us. I was in love with the Phoenix trip because it helped in my relationship and walk with God. I look forward to nationals next year with everyone. We had some very awesome memories and I encourage all youth to participate. -Zach Kessinger

Look who is new! Your generous hearts have helped give this little girl the help she needs to thrive and heal. Beyond the Cross added Love Without Boundaries as one of the organizations we help sponsor. LWB does wonderful work among the orphans in China, with programs in medical care, nutrition assistance for orphanages, education and foster care. Little Delyth was born in February, 2011 with a serious heart defect. After she received surgery with the assistance of LWB, she is recovering well and gaining weight and strength. LWB reports that her smiles are a joy to all! See more of the work of LWB at www.lovewithoutboundaries.com. Beyond the Cross also added sponsorship for New Hope Foundation in Beijing (www.hopefosterhome.com), an amazing organization founded by Dr. Joyce and Robin Hill whose aim is to give medical assistance and loving care to the most medically fragile of the orphans in China. This is heart-rending work as many babies have such serious needs that they pass into the arms of Jesus while in the care of Hope. But many others are
healed, and are often able to find their forever families through adoption. A third sponsorship added is to Birthright here in Rolla. It is a privilege to assist them as they strive to help parents choose life for their babies. We appreciate your support of Beyond the Cross as we share your gifts with these organizations serving Gods little ones. Beyond the Cross also invites you to attend the Linking Hearts Event. This annual event brings adoption-eligible children from across Missouri here to Rolla. Families interested in meeting these children can interact with them in a fun and relaxed environment, as activities will include games and crafts. The Community Partnership, Childrens Division and the Pan-Hellenic Council of MS & T work together to provide this opportunity for prospective adoptive families to meet these waiting children. Linking Hearts will be held September 16, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lions Club Park. Many children have found their forever families at these events. Please pray that hearts will be opened once again this year, and that these children will find the love of a family here in the Rolla area. For more information, call Rolla Family Services at 368-2340. Beyond the Cross Adoption and Orphan Care Ministry is committed to helping the body of Christ to find ways to minister to the orphans of the world. If you would like more information or would like to attend our next meeting, call Elaine Harrison at 465-3222 or email at elainehrrsn@gmail.com.
