BACKGROUND
Information Technology (IT) in 21st century India has become all pervasive and is offering tremendous potential to all types of organizations, be it small, medium or large. Today, manufacturing and distribution organizations run their operations using ERP, banks run on core banking solutions, customer-focused businesses run CRM, most design work gets done on computers and the list is never ending. Diverse applications like telecommunications, satellite launching, retail chain or supply chain operations, data mixing and business intelligence cannot run or add value to the business without sound IT support. Governmental measures are also on the rise and effects of IT deployment have started surfacing. Service sector happens to be one of the biggest consumers of IT enabled services with banking, insurance, hospitality etc. being the forerunners in the race. In these times, business have gained an edge through the assimilation of communication technologies with information technology which has given rise to Information and Communication technologies (ICTs). ICT is central to today's most modern economies. ICTs are acting as integrating and enabling technologies for the economy. Broadband connectivity is a key component in ICT development, adoption and use. It accelerates the contribution of ICTs to economic growth, facilitates innovation, and promotes efficiency, network effects and positive externalities. ICT applications improve information and knowledge management inside the firm, can reduce transaction costs and increase the speed and reliability of transactions for both business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) transactions. In addition, they are effective tools for improving external communications and quality of services for established and new customers. The conference is aimed at providing a platform to academia, IT consultants, research scholars, senior managers, practitioners, software developers and students to share their knowledge and experience on Information and Communication Technologies: Enhancing Business Competencies through Innovative Practices.

ABOUT INDORE
Indore was ruled by the Holkars from 1728, when the region was granted to them by Bajirao Peshwa. In the beginning of the Holkar reign, Maheshwar close to Indore, famous for its sarees, was the capital. In 1818, the capital was shifted to Indore by Rani Ahilyabai, daughter-in-law of Malhar Rao Holkar. The Holkars contributed significantly to the development of Indore. It is now an important commercial centre of Madhya Pradesh, which boasts of well developed industrial areas like Dewas and Pithampur where major industrial houses have production facilities. Indore is well-connected by road, rail and air routes. Being close to Rajasthan, Indore has certain climatic peculiarities. During the day, temperature can be as high as 45C while nights tend to be cool. The nights of Malwa are termed as 'Shab-e-Malwa'. Indore enjoys a moderate rainfall. Rains strike Indore around the third week of June and continue well into September.
