Hi Rajitha Well, 9th house does give you divine favour and virtues.

Spiritual penance by objective, is actually to gain more divine favour so as to shift Prarabdha in your favour. After all that is what 9th house is all about as it rules present life credits. The 9th house has a spiritual dimension as well as connotations of material prosperity. It also conveys an expansive influence, influencing the lives of others which the native comes into contact with. Hence natural benefics placed here give the person all these dimensions of experience. Benefic aspects radiate their goodness to the malefics, they also have spirtuality (Jupiter and Venus both are gurus of different sects in the pantheon of the planets) and Jupiter takes us beyond the horizons of our everyday living (thus ethics, morals etc. emphasise very strongly when Jupiter is placed here) and it represents wealth - wealth in the sense of big time investments and the worth of a person. Venus here would give us the necessary grace and manners which is conducive for everyday living and it also ensures our coffers for everyday spending is always full to the brim. Malefics do not do well in the 9th (even the Sun which would spoil the significations of the 9th when placed here; Jupiter on the other hand spoils the significations of the 5th when placed there). They are inward looking (which is at odds with the principle of the 9th), and the kind of material prosperity they give like Saturn and Rahu are of the kind which is not earned in the spirit of men ie. ill gotten gains even though it may be perfectly legal. Ketu's spirituality fit in more with the 12th as it is seclusive and isolated more in 12th house kind of spiritualism and meditation. Mars without the guidance of Jupiter here, would wreak havoc in this house, interpretting the laws and principles being signified here to his own advantage. The ruler of the 9th placed anywhere in the chart gives luck and providential help in relation to the affairs of the house where the owner is placed. It also expands the affairs of that house and the effects of this house usually occur between middle and old age (Sun and Jupiter are significators for this house and they govern persons of that age range). Placed in the 2nd gives luck in accumulating wealth, placed in 8th gives large inheritance, placed in 3rd gives a flair for the arts etc. It is usually a combination of luck AND aptitude. Like my Jupiter is in the 8th, gives me good occult knowledge but luck is also involved as the forum members ask me all the right questions which I know or I have the material sources close at hand. Telepathic and telekinetic powers also come under the 9th. The 9th represents the higher mind and planets here give heightened intuition (9th is the 11th of the 11th and the 11th is house of intuition). Even if other areas of the chart shows the person is not wealthy, lots of planets here would ensure that the person is nevertheless healthy in mind and spirit and that would ensure his good tidings even in bad times. The codification of the law comes under the 9th. 7th rules arbitration and the outcome in court proceedings. All these are documented and enter into the 9th house law codifications (for countries like Singapore and India using common law, these gains from

the 7th house are especially important). The constitution comes under the 9th and this helps to check the power of the government (9th is the 12th to the 10th). Whereas the 5th house represents initiation into divinatory matters, the 9th house represents spiritual initiation. The 5th house has to do more with devotion to a deity (although it does have 9th house qualities being the 9th of the 9th) and the 9th has more to do with the "religious spirit" of man. How a man pursues his main religion is seen from the 9th house more than the 5th. If he is really religious, then either the Guru or he himself would initiate the spiritual rites necessary for him to go onto his next stage of enlightenment which is Moksha represented by the 12th house. The 9th house give gains of immense wealth both figuratively and metaphorically. The gains here are rapid (not like the accretion of the 2nd), speculations are more certain (being the 11th of the 11th and the 5th of the 5th) and different souls can have different starting leverage for the 9th for material prosperity depending on the conditions of the 4th house (it is the 8th to the 9th and is also a house of prosperity whose significator is the Moon). Those born from a well to do family (4th) usually have a head start in the 9th for this present lifetime. If you have Venus in 4th and Jupiter in 9th, then you are blessed by the lucky stars. 9th rules ethics and philosophy all codifications of higher thoughts. It rules publishing that is of long lasting value. Jupiter ruling hearing and being the significator of the 9th shows that men are different from animals and we are able to be immersed in abstract thoughts and matters. Being opposite to the 3rd which rules communication and thus is complimentary to the 3rd house (all opposite pair of houses are complementary to one another; they work in tandem), human beings are able to converse each other in these abstract concepts and come out with even higher concepts to benefit mankind (9th has an expansive influence, remember?). It rules acquisition of efforts for higher learning. The effort involved here is easy flowing and effective not so much raw energy like the 3rd, 6th or 10th places where Mars do well.
