As rich and broad as their experiences may be, those who have spent signicant portions of their lives

in other cultures often struggle with their own identity and with reentry into North America. It is critical that multiculturals of all ages be aware of the factors that have shaped them and of the dierences that dene them. It is equally important that we who welcome them home have a better understanding of both their strengths and their struggles, in order to care for them in a more informed and eective way.

Michle Phoenix was born in France to missionary parents. She attended French schools until 9th grade, then transferred to Black Forest Academy (Germany) for her high school years. Michle earned a BA in Communications from Wheaton College, then went back to BFA for 20 years, teaching and deepening her understanding of MKs and the TCK experience. Now a published author (Tyndale), she serves with Global Outreach Mission as an MK Advocate, developing new materials, speaking, writing, and mentoring missionary families on and o the eld.
