Other Health Technology Assessments Development and evaluation by a cluster randomised trial of a psychosocial intervention in children and teenagers experiencing diabetes: the DEPICTED study Gregory J, et al. This study found that training diabetes health-care professionals to improve their consultation skills did not achieve short-term impacts on HbA1c level and quality of life. Further modification of this training and reinforcement is required to produce a benefit on outcomes. Health Technol Assess 2011:15(29) A study of the safety and harms of antidepressant drugs for older people: a cohort study using a large primary care database Coupland C et al. This study found associations between use of antidepressant drugs and a number of adverse events in older people, but there was no evidence that selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors or other antidepressant drugs were associated with a reduced risk of any of the adverse outcomes compared with tricyclic and related antidepressants. The authors concluded that studies of the accuracy of screening tools for depression rarely exclude patients who already have a diagnosis of or are receiving treatment for depression, a potential bias that is not evaluated in systematic reviews and meta-analyses.
