Neither Kitsch, nor Clich
The Salzkammergut discover a culture rich in traditions. The Inner
Salzkammergut nestles between the former imperial residence Bad Ischl
and the mighty Dachstein massif. The four unique towns of Bad Goisern,
Gosau, Hallstatt and Obertraun within the Inner Salzkammergut were
inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List due to their history going
back for centuries. Till this day the people of those small picturesque
villages honour their genuine traditions and inspiring spiritual sites bet-
ween the mountains and lakes each of them imbued with its entire
individual charm.
On the occasion of the Provincial Exhibition 2008, the local people,
scientists, associations and historical institutions they all have con-
tributed with great effort to present those regional distinctions making
this exhibition a true experience. For Pamela Friedl CEO of the tourism
association of the Inner Salzkammergut, its the authenticity and tangi-
ble experience making the special charm of this exhibition. A few years
ago she moved to this region and therefore knows from frst hand: In
this region the people live in harmony with nature and tradition. So it is
worth while to go behind the scenes and simply immerse into the zest
for life and to feel the inspiration
About wood carvers,
cave bears & mystical
high moors
What does a Grandfather from Goisern remember about handcraft
and music? Do you feel the special spirit from the past when you
live in Hallstatt? And when living in Gosau or Obertraun what does
it feel like facing the mighty Dachstein massif? These and many
other facets will be presented at the Upper Austria Provincial Ex-
hibition 2008 from April 29, until November 2, 2008

A great opportunity to get to know the backgrounds of regional history
is the castle of Neuwildenstein in Bad Goisern. On three foors the entire
range of handicrafts, folk culture and customary events during the whole
year is presented to the visitors. And since the people of Goisern are
artistic and creative music and festivals are a great part of their life.
The event calendar is full the opening is the Lanzingfest, then the
Gamsjagatage, followed by the famous Goiserer Fiddle Festival and of
course one of the highlights: Hubert von Goiserns concert on May 3,
2008. Especially during July and August the whole town becomes a
stage for musicians, artists and traditional costumes like the famous
Goldtuchfrauen women wearing golden cloth.

ever. Its singularity, shape and surface make the Dachstein the star of
the Provincial Exhibition in Obertraun. Feel the uniqueness and the po-

Parents listen up!

Some of our friends are already able to read. And they told us all about the goodies the
kids event calendar Hits4Kids has to offer. They mentioned something about a
spooky-scary hiking trip, and yes also about walking on a Saga Trail. Or what about a
petting zoo at a farm? Believe it or not one can also explore old caves with a headlamp
like a real speleologist. One thing is for sure: we children all agree on the kids program.
