By Bevi Tamargo Theres something mysterious about dyingit brings us closer to life.

revolution that will forever be remembered as one of peace. Throughout her life she had shown that ultimately softness prevails over strength. Violence gives way to compassion. Forgiveness, over anger. Acceptance over struggle.

A PUBLICATION OF AND FOR THE FILIPINO CATHOLIC MIGRANTS IN SEOUL ARCHDIOCESE

When Michael Jackson lived, his public life was filled with nasty rumors and shame. But upon his death, people suddenly remembered all the good things. In Korean ex President Rohs lifetime, he was bombarded with political scandals and charges of corruption. But his death made him a hero and a legend.

I liked the way she handled everything in her life with total faith in God. When her husband died she gracefully accepted it and took on the challenge to become President. As a mother, she became a source of compassion, caring and strength to her children. She accepted evePres. Cory Aquino had always been, without rything gracefully. She handled things gracefully doubt, a mighty political force. But upon her death, her life has been put in the spotlight, in all and with full faith and trust in God. It was her softness that moved the world. of its fine detail.

Theres something about deathit awakens us.

President Aquinos death had turned her into a legend. A figure deeply imbedded in the hearts of the Filipinos.

She believed in the power of prayer. Indeed prayer can be a very strong force in life. With God at the steering wheel, you would never be led astray. He would lead you in all the right directions. And on to our higher destinies.

She has become a symbol of peace. She had an inner peace that radiated form within. And it was strong enough to move a nation and topple a dictatorship. She used the power of love and the goodness of human nature.

When her husband was shot, she gracefully accepted it as the will of God and led the EDSA

Most people forget that God can be a powerful ally. I know a lot of intelligent people who are atheists. They live by logic. I have tried living like that. But it is lonely life. It is a life where you always have to struggle and fight with life. But letting God lead your life, is indeed a great thing. It means being protected. Its like having a bestfriend in the spiritual world, in the world of causes where everything is created..the unmanifest world that brings everything into being.

The life of former President Cory Aquino was a shining example of how through our faith in the Divine, we are led towards our higher destiniesa life that is more fulfilling and in line with our higher purpose. When people die, their lives come into focus. Death brings back old memories to life. When the material world fades, all we have left are memories. We live forever in the memories of the people whose lives we have touched. In their minds we stay young forever. We live over and over again... Time is an illusion. What kind of legacy would we like to have? What kind of memories would live forever?

PAGNINILAY:
Fr. Maxell Lowell C. Aranilla

CATHOLIC FAITH:
Pres. Cory Aquino Prayer for a Happy Death (2004)
Almighty God, most merciful Father You alone know the time You alone know the hour You alone know the moment When I shall breathe my last. So remind me each day, most loving Father To be the best that I can be To be humble, to be kind, To be patient, to be true, To embrace what is good To reject what is evil To adore only You.

Come, Come to My Aid (October 3, 1994)

Almighty God, Our Father Come, come to my aid And put my enemies in dread of You. Have pity on me, O Lord And relieve the troubles of my heart. My words no longer matter For ears that can hear No longer want to hear. My deeds seem worthless For eyes that can see No longer want to see. You alone are my hope, Most merciful God To You alone I surrender my soul. I know that You will hearken to the sound of my prayer For great has been Your kindness to me In times of suffering and distress. Teach me to humbly wait And to be constant in my prayers. Let me praise Your Holy Name From the rising to the setting of the sun Proclaiming Your Goodness before Your faithful ones. Thanks be to God, forever and ever. Amen.

When that final moment does come Let not my loved ones grieve for long Let them comfort each other And let them know how much happiness They brought into my life. Let them pray for me As I will continue to pray for them, Hoping that they will always pray for each other. Let them know that they made possible Whatever good I offered to our world And let them realize that our separation Prayer (September 2, 1994) Is just for a short while Almighty and merciful God, As we prepare for our reunion in eternity. You alone know everything. You know my present pain Our Father in heaven You know what deeply troubles my You alone are my hope mind and also wounds my heart. I call on You, Lord and Master of You alone are my salvation Thank You for Your unconditional love. Amen. my life Do not abandon me in my time of trouble. Look with much compassion on me and my loved ones. Come Almighty Father, we implore You. Guide us and fill our hearts with much love and understanding for each other. Direct us always to choose that which is good and that which is just. Lord, Lord, never even for a moment forget us. Grant us the gift of faith, so that at all times we shall remember to entrust and commit ourselves entirely to Your wise and loving care.

I thank You, Most Loving Father, for all the blessings You have generously bestowed on me and my family. Give us the grace to wisely use these gifts, not for ourselves alone, but more especially for our suffering brethren who are in need of so much assistance. Forgive us, Our Father, for all the times we have offended You. We ask for Your Divine Mercy and we implore Your help so that we can become better persons with each passing day. We humbly offer You our love, our works and our sacrifices today and everyday of our lives. Blessed be Your Name, Almighty God. Amen.

KARUNUNGAN:
Bro. Joel Tavarro

I was fourteen.. when the sun was completely up revealing new worlds. Some were shown before my eyes, like periwinkle decor inside mansions. Others I had to search for like insects hiding inside tiny breaks on mountain precipices. I had to work hard for some like pounding grain with mortar and pestle, some I just picked up along the way. I was fourteen when I started to blush at every smiling girl who grew taller than I was. Never did I know Id try to peek under their skirts or steal a kiss away. My face reddened from pricking pimples with the nail on my thumb. Began to use deodorants and took a bath three times a day. But it was also at fourteen when I first experienced being intoxicated with alcohol and indulged with the pleasures of smoke wisping from my mouth. Id go home drunk walking in a circular path. Soon, I would have done it all from reefers to hash. So, I have been fourteen, too, my child. Believe me when I say all these may be fun but punishment comes once you get fortyto forty-one.

The Prayer Vigil is held every 1st Saturday of Kahit masugatan ka ng lihim the month. The gathering started with a talk by Sr. Diana Madulara, nyang tinik RGS. Sr. Diana shared her reflections about the meaning of having a mission. She led the audience into a deeper reflection of Christs way in doing it, in going to places, sharing the Good News and healing the sick, both physically and in spirit. In her talk, she focused on the importance of being observant, sensitive, and action. She shared: kayo ng tumingin, hindi kayo makakakita. Mt. 13:14

At tumingin man hangin.
Tumitingin tayo ngunit hindi nakakakita, nakakakita ngunit hindi nakakaunawa. Nakikinig tayo ngunit nagbibingibingihan, nakikinig ngunit Pagkat koronahan ka man ng hindi nakakaunawa, nakakaunawa ngunit hindi KUMIKILOS. pag-ibig, ipapako ka rin niya sa According to Sr. Diana, ang isang pagmimisyon ay isang pagkilos, paggawa, at pagtugon. In closing, she shared this poem, in relation to serving in a mission.

In the past weeks, as you suffered alone in your hospital room, you were still teaching us how to pray again. How your afflictions with grace-filled resignation taught us the dignity of suffering. Thank you for teaching us to stand up for freedom and to preserve democracy no matter the cost. You gave us a new meaning for yellow, the color of your love for your country and her people. Tita Cory, thank you for showing us the true meaning of love for family through your love for your children and their love for you. Even now in their moment of ineffable grief they share you with us, sacrificing moments of personal mourning and sharing with us their loving memories of you. Tita Cory, thank you for fighting for us. You never fought any battle for yourself. You surrendered everything to God a long time ago. You fought cancer valiantly, not for you, but for us, because we told you we needed you and we were afraid to face life without you. In our heart of hearts, we whispered to God to take away your pains and give them all to us. Tita Cory, we were willing to suffer instead of you. That is how much we love you.

We promise to love this country as you loved us. There is darkness in our land because you are gone. But we know, we have enough light within us because you have shared with us your fire. Were not ready to live without you. It will take a long while to start again without you but move on to heaven, dear Tita Cory, move on. The battle is over, the victory is won. You are now truly free. You are now fully happy. Move on to heaven and be with your beloved Ninoy forever. Heaven is where the two of you will die no longer. Harvest the rich of fruits of your toil on earth. When in heaven, I know you will see again my beloved Cardinal Sin. Please bring to him my love and with him pray to God for our beloved country, the Philippines. Rest now Tita Cory, rest in God.
