Sa pagtatapos ng taong 2009 di natin maiwasang magbalik-tanaw sa mga nangyari sa atin sa nagdaang taon: sa ating pamilya, hanap-buhay, komunidad, at sa mundong ating ginagalawan. Andiyan ang magaganda at di magagandang pangyayari. Nang dahil sa mga ito, di natin maiwasang sambitin ang mga katagang ang hirap ng buhay na tulad ng nabanggit ni Fr. Aranilla sa kanyang pagninilay. Subalit ang isang bagay na kahanga-hanga sa ating mga pinoy ay sa kabila ng daing at buntong-hininga ay maaaninag sa ating mga mukha ang ngiti, saya at kagalakan sabay sambit ng matatapos din ito. Tulad na nga lang sa naganap na Christmas Party noong linggo sa Capital Hotel. Sino ba ang maga-akalang ang mga dumalo ay halos 24 na oras na kumakayod upang may maipadalang pera sa mga mahal sa buhay? Ang kanilang walang puknat na mga ngiti sa labi, naggagandahang mga kasuotan, tawanan at hagikgikan ay larawan ng kagalakan at kasiyahan sa pagsapit na muli ng pasko-ang paggunita sa kapanganakan ng Mesiyas. Sa kabila ng pagal na katawan at lamig ng panahon, ang mga Pilipino hindi lamang sa ating bansa kung hindi sa ibat ibang lupalop ng daigdig ay nagsasakripisyong dumalo sa Simbang Gabi dala-dala ang kani-kaniyang mga intensiyon sa nobenang ito, may ngiti pa rin at galak sa labi, umaasang sasagutin ng Panginoon ang kanilang mga samot dalangin. Ang kagalakan ni Maria ang nagsisilbing halimbawa sa ating mga Pilipino upang patuloy na magkaroon ng higit na pag-asang magkakaroon ng isang buhay na maginhawa at kasiya-siya. Kung hindi man sa taong ito, maaaring sa susunod na taon ay ibibigay na ni Bro ang ating kahilingan. Panatilihin lamang ang kagalakan sa ating puso!

Mary as the Ark Revealed in Marys Visit to Elizabeth Golden Box: Ark of the Old Mary: Ark of the New CoveCovenant nant
The ark traveled to the house of Obed-edom in the hill country of Judea (2 Sam. 6:111). Dressed as a priest, David danced and leapt in front of the ark (2 Sam. 6:14). David asks, "How can the ark of the Lord come to me?" (2 Sam. 6:9). David shouts in the presence of the ark (2 Sam. 6:15). The ark remained in the house of Obed-edom for three months (2 Sam. 6:11). The house of Obed-edom was blessed by the presence of the ark (2 Sam. 6:11). The ark returns to its home and ends up in Jerusalem, where Gods presence and glory is revealed in the temple (2 Sam. 6:12; 1 Kgs. 8:9 11). Mary traveled to the house of Elizabeth and Zechariah in the hill country of Judea (Luke 1:39). John the Baptistof priestly lineageleapt in his mothers womb at the approach of Mary (Luke 1:41). Elizabeth asks, "Why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" (Luke 1:43). Elizabeth "exclaimed with a loud cry" in the presence of the Mary (Luke 1:42). Mary remained in the house of Elizabeth for three months (Luke 1:56). The word blessed is used three times; surely the house was blessed by God (Luke 1:3945).

The Old Testament tells us that one item was placed inside the Ark of the Old Covenant while in the Sinai wilderness: God told Moses to put the stone tablets with the Ten Commandments inside the ark (Deut. 10:3 5). Hebrews 9:4 informs us that two additional items were placed in the Ark: "a golden urn holding the manna, and Aarons rod that budded." Notice the amazing parallels: In the ark was the law of God inscribed in stone; in Marys womb was the Word of God in flesh. In the ark was the urn of manna, the bread from heaven that kept Gods people alive in the wilderness; in Marys womb is the Bread of Life come down from heaven that brings eternal life. In the ark was the rod of Aaron, the proof Mary returns home and eventually of true priesthood; in Marys womb is the true priest. On this last Sunday before Christmas, the Churchs Liturgy reveals the true identity of our Redeemer: He is, as todays First Reading says, the rulerwhose origin is fromancient times. He will come from Bethlehem, where David was born of Jesse the Ephrathite and anointed king (see Ruth 4:11-17; 1 Samuel 16:1-13; 17:1; Matthew 2:6). The New Ark The Church in her liturgy and tradition has long praised Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant. We see biblical roots for this in the readings for the Fourth Sunday in Advent (Cycle C).

Compare Marys visitation to Elizabeth with the story of David returning God promised that an heir of David would reign on his throne forever the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem and youll hear interesting echoes. (see 2 Samuel 7:12-13; Psalm 89; Psalm 132:11-12). The Nativity of Jesus was first celebrated in the Philippines in 1565. Introduced by Miguel Lopez de Legaspi, the Christmas celebration began with a novena of Masses starting on December 16 and ending on December 24 with a noche buena (Christmas family dinner) after the midnight Mass. This novena was called Misa de Aguinaldo, or Gift Masses. Since each of the novena Masses started at dawn with the cocks crow, the Masses later became known as Misa de Gallo. The Christmas novena became one of the best-loved and most celebrated traditions in all parts of the Philippines. To this day in most rural areas in the Philippines, people attend the Misa de Gallo without asking why the liturgy is celebrated at 4:00, or 5:00 oclock in the morning. However, the faster pace of life in metropolitan cities like Manila necessitated some adjustments in the time of Misa de Gallo. Some churches began to offer Christmas novena Masses at around 7:30 at night, to enable those working in graveyard shifts to make the novena in preparation for the coming of the Messiah. The name Misa de Gallo again changed to Simbang Gabi (night Mass). Today, whether the liturgies are celebrated at dawn or at night, the novena of Christmas Masses is still called Simbang Gabi. Filipino-Americans have brought Simbang Gabi to the United States and have found it to be an effective way to build a community of faith. They can express who they are as a people, to celebrate their religious tradition and culture, and to reach out to Filipinos in the parish, particularly those who are not active in church. Because Simbang Gabi brings out so many beautiful Filipino values and evokes nostalgic memories of the Philippines, people are willing to make special effort to participate in the novena, in spite of the cold weather or tiring day at work. Choir members come an hour earlier each night to practice the songs, giving them the opportunity to know each other better and enjoy singing familiar Tagalog and English carols to their hearts content. This is the time when inactive Filipinos are in-

vited to participate as gift bearers and when Filipinos already involved in parish life take turns to be greeters, ushers, lectors, and Eucharistic ministers. Others get involved in decorating the church with parol (Christmas lanterns shaped as star, symbolic of the star that guided the Magi to the place where Jesus was born) and belen (the Nativity scene). What is the catechetical challenge of Simbang Gabi? The first challenge is to realize that this is a teachable moment when the hearts of Filipinos are open for evangelization and catechesis. This is the time to proclaim that the Son of God born in a manger is a moving manifestation of the gentleness of God. This is the time to remind people that Gods ways are not our ways, that God comes quietly and humbly without any pomp or pageantry, that God comes to us in the tenderness and gentility of the person reaching out to us in faith, love, peace, compassion, and sacrifice, that God comes to us when we bring His gentleness and tenderness to others. The second challenge is to go back to the original meaning and value of Simbang Gabi as a time of spiritual preparation for Christmas. This preparation calls for deep reflection in order to remember the mystery of the Incarnation celebrated at Christmas. Th novena days are a time to look into ourselves to see areas in our lives that need to be changed, so that we can welcome Christ more fully into our hearts. It is a time to look at the example of Mary who was always ready for the stirring of Gods grace, who promptly responded to Gods call to be His witness of love and service to the community. When Simbang Gabi is understood from the perspective of these challenges, it transcends cultural boundaries and is a unifying time in the parish. It is an opportunity for everyone in the parish to be one community of faith, to wait, with Mary, in silence and prayerful anticipation for the birth of her Son Jesus, our Lord and Messiah.

Our Counseling Office has met many more patients especially since the winter season began. Whenever we get medical problems, our Labor Pastoral Center, the patients families, friends and loved ones are obliged to put together all their efforts and money for the patients treatment. Another challenge we face is that all undocumented migrant workers are uninsured. They have no access to health care until they have a serious medical crisis. Our offices experience is that if people just follow health guidelines to maintain their health, their medical concerns and troubles are fewer and can be avoided. For this reason our Labor Pastoral Center wants to suggest the following health tips. Drink Plenty of Water Drinking water is important for good health. Its estimated that our body is about 60 to 70 % water. Blood is mostly water, as well as our muscles, lungs, and brains all contain large amounts of water. Our body needs water to regulate body temperature and provide the means for nutrients to travel to all organs. Water also transports oxygen to our cells, removes waste, and protects our joints and organs. Symptoms of mild dehydration include chronic pains in joints and muscles, lower back pain, headaches and constipation. A strong odor in our urine along with a yellow or amber color indicates that we may not be getting enough water. How much water should we drink? Our body needs at least 7 to 8 cups or 1.5 liters every day. Just drinking enough water can make a difference in your health.

Sa isang dako naman, may ilang mga koreano at koreana ang nakamasid sa mga magagandang reyna, nakatutuwa na saan sulok ng mundo basta may pinoy magagalang talaga. Oops teka matapos ang misa, ito na dagsa pala ang bilang ng mga pinoy sa labas ng simbahan. Saan man sulok ako lumingon ang bawat matang nandon ay tila ba may hinahanap. Kringkringkring Hello bro.asan ka? Ah ok dyan tayo magkita sa Hyehwa ah isang tawagan sa telepono ang aking nadinig ah ito pala ang lugar na pinagtatagpuan ng mga Pilipinong ilang taon na din hindi nagkikita, Sa wakas may paraiso na pala tayo dito kung araw ng linggo. Roque, OWWA, SM Super Malls and Banco de Oro have agreed to implement an expanded program this December which marks the 15th year of Pamaskong Handog sa OFWs with its theme Masaya ang Pasko, Bayan at Pamilya Kasama Ko! Under the partnership, OWWA duty officers will bring inbound OFW passengers from selected international flights to the Mall of Asia in Pasay, and in SM Clark and SM Cebu where their families will be waiting. In this way, the greeters avoid the hassle of waiting for their loved ones at congested parking areas in NAIA terminals, as well as the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport and Mactan International Airport. At the same (Singapore Airlines, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific), Hongkong (Cathy Pacific, Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific), Inchon-South Korea (Philippine Airlines), Bahrain (Gulf Air), Doha (Qatar Airways), Dubai (Emirates), and Kuwait (Kuwait Airways).

POSSESSION OF FAKE IMMIGRATION STAMP ON PASSPORT IS SUBJECT TO IMMEDIATE DEPORTATION
The Philippine Embassy in Seoul is advising Filipinos in Korea to be alert against the use of fake Philippine Immigration exit stamp on their Philippine passports to expedite travel to Korea. Some unscrupulous individuals entice travelers to apply through them for a fee with a promise to facilitate their entry to Korea through the use of fake exit immigration stamps. Ambassador Cruz appealed to the Filipino community to be cautious and avoid dealing with fixers before leaving the country. It is important that Filipino travelers should be aware that under Korean Immigration Laws, the penalty for this kind of immigration fraud is immediate deportation and ban from traveling to Korea for a period of five (5 ) years. The Embassy has recommended a thorough investigation of this form of Immigration fraud to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs.
