Course notes and delivery Students should consult recommended textbooks (**) for lecture notes, tutorial questions and further information on this course. Assessment Assessment of this course is based on:-

A 2-hour final written examination (60%), for which students are required to answer 4 questions out of 6, and Coursework (40%).

Students must obtain minimum threshold marks of 50% for the coursework component and 40% for the final written examination component to be eligible for a pass in the course. The coursework (40%) is assessed by TWO tests and Laboratory Reports as determined using the following weighting scheme. 1. Tests (20%) 2. Case study based on Laboratory Report (20%) Only extenuating circumstances will be accepted as a valid reason for missing any lecture, tutorials and laboratory session.
