The secoEd Neptune was a l i g h t d r a f t monitor. The t h i r d Ncptune was a c o l l i e r launched i n 1311 and plzced out of cormission i n 1922. The U.S.S. Nereus i s t h e t h i r d of t h e sane name on t h e Navy l i s t s . ThG f i r s t was a s t e a n screw schooner which served i n t h e C i v i l Yar. The second w a s a c o l l i e r launched i n 1913 and s t r i c k e n from t h e Navy l i s t December 5 , 1940. The new Orion i s tile f o u r t h o f t h e same n m c . She was launched i n 1863 and s o l d i n 1365.

TEXFOWY DlPTP ORDERS Several cases of d u p l i c a t i o n o f orders have come t o t h e a t t e n t i o n of t h e Bureau s i n c e a u t h o r i t y has been sranti?d t o t h e Commandants of t h e various Naval D i s t r i c t s t o i s s u e t m p o r a r y a d d i t i o n a l duty orders. While i t i s appreciated t h a t t h e d e c m t r a l i z a t i o n of c o n t r o l over temporary a d d i t i o n a l duty involving t r a v e l - t r i l l i n e v i t a b l y r e s u l t i n some duplicat i o n , every e f f o r t must be mcde t o keep such dupllcation a t a minimum.
A Bureau despatch order should be delivered f o r compliance t o t h e o f f i c e r involved and never made t h e b a s i s o f a Maval D i s t r i c t order with a D i s t r i c t T nuiiber. Bunav despatch orders vi11 be confirmed a s usual, by l e t t e r f o r t h e c o l l e c t i o n o f mileage.

'Xhere duplication i s discovered, t h e order issued by t h e D i s t r i c t Commandant should be immediately cancelled, and n o t i f i c a t i o n s e n t t o t h e Bureau i f such order has been sent i n f o r approval. I n cases where d i s t r i c t orders a r c already approved arid mileage c o l l e c t e d before t h c d u p l i c a t i o n i s discovered, t h e Bureau orders should be returned f o r cancellation.
