Wait Newsletter #260 - June 2000 The word "wait" deserves our consideration.

Sometimes we miss God's direction, and therefore His blessings, by not understanding a translation. We might think wait means to procrastinate. In the Hebrew, there is much more to the simple word "wait". Let's begin our study in the Book of Isaiah. First, we are going to consider our relationship with our Father and how we may receive His blessings. Isaiah 40:13 Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or being His counseller hath taught Him? No one! In fact, quite the opposite is true. He sent you this Word to counsel you how to be wise and successful in your flesh body, if you do things His way. Isaiah 40:14 With whom took He counsel, and who instructed Him, and taught Him in the path of judgment, and taught Him knowledge, and shewed to Him the way of understanding? 15 Behold, the nations are as a drop of a bucket, and are counted as the small dust of the balance: behold, He taketh up the isles as a very little thing. Christians, all too often, seem to doubt the power of God. Our Father is able to change entire nations. Isaiah 40:16 And Lebanon is not sufficient to burn, nor the beasts therof sufficient for a burnt offering. 17 All nations before Him are as nothing; and they are counted to Him less than nothing, and vanity. The cedars of Lebanon, nor the beasts found there are sufficient to offer Him. Do you know why? He doesn't want your burnt offerings. He wants your love. Isaiah 40:18 To whom then will ye liken GOD? or what likeness will ye compare unto Him? 19 The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains. Some men think they are able to create some awesome things. The creations of men can't compare to the creation of our Father. Isaiah 40:20 He that is so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree that will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, that shall not be moved. Man always tries to create his own salvation. There is only one salvation, and that is of our Father. Do things His way, and you will prosper. Isaiah 40:21 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? God has told you about the foundations of the world in His Word. Many "Bible Thumpers" will tell you the earth is 6,000 years old in their ignorance of the Word. You who have studied His Word know that the first world age began millions of years ago, and God's Word documents this fact to those that have read it with understanding. Isaiah 40:22 It is He That sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants therof are as grasshoppers; That stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: If Columbus was a Bible student, he certainly wasn't afraid of sailing off the end of the earth. God's Word states that the world is round. Isaiah 40:23 That bringeth the princes to nothing; He maketh the judges of the earth as vanity. 24 Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown; yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth; and He shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.

If you try to whittle your own religion out of a piece of wood or make your religion out of traditions of men, God will destroy your false religion. Isaiah 40:25 "To whom then will ye liken Me, or shall I be equal?" saith the Holy One. 26 "Lift up your eyes on high, and behold Who hath created these things, That bringeth out their host by number: He calleth them all by names by the greatness of His might, for that He is strong in power; not one faileth. Look to the heavens on any clear night, and you can feel the awesome power of our Father in His creation. Isaiah 40:27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest, O Israel, 'My way is hid from the LORD, and my judgment is passed over from my God?' Dont ever be guilty of thinking that God doesn't judge fairly, when it is you that has messed up. When you mess up, get into His Word and figure out what it is you did wrong. His Word is His counsel. Isaiah 40:28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasing God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of His understanding. 29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength. Do you ever feel faint and weak? Don't forget this last verse. If you are doing His work, God will strengthen you. Isaiah 40:30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: If you aren't doing God's work and receiving His strength, even the young will fail. Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." Absorb God's truth, and you will never be spiritually frightened, worried, or scared. You will never grow weary and faint. Now, the reason we came to this Scripture. It is critical that you clearly understand something so important as renewing your strength. What does this word "wait" mean? "Wait" in Hebrew is "qavah" (kawvaw') a prime root which can't be translated any other way than "to bind by the means of twisting together". Bind, or entwine, yourself with God in His Word. You aren't going to gain strength by waiting. Those that bind themselves to the Lord, and His Word, shall renew their strength. Let's continue our study with a Psalm of David. Psalm 25:1 Unto Thee 0 LORD, do I lift up my soul. 2 0 my God, I trust in Thee: Let me not be ashamed, Let not mine enemies triumph over me. Not only were many heathen nations trying to kill David, his own king, Saul, was trying to kill him. Your enemies won't triumph, if you will stay with your Father. Psalm 25:3 Yea. let none that wait on Thee be ashamed: Let them be ashamed which transgress without cause. The word "wait" in this verse doesn't mean to sit down and take a break. This verse means that those who bind themselves with God will not be put to shame by their enemies. Psalm 25:4 Shew me Thy ways, 0 LORD; Teach me Thy paths. 5 Lead me in Thy truth, and teach me: For Thou art the God of my salvation; On Thee do I wait all the day. Again, the word "wait" means "to bind by twisting together". Entwine yourself in His Word, and you will learn the Lord's paths and His truth. He will teach you, if you are willing to learn.

Psalm 25:6 Remember, 0 LORD, Thy tender mercies and Thy loving kindnesses; For they have been ever of old. 7 Remember not the sins of my yourth, nor my transgressions: According to Thy mercy remember Thou me For Thy goodness' sake O LORD. We all have sins that God won't remember, as long as we repent of them. After He has forgiven us. He doesn't want to hear about them ever again. Psalm 25:8 Good and upright is the LORD: Therefore will He teach sinners in the way. 9 The meek will He guide in judgment: And the meek will He teach His way. The Lord will teach those that are humble His way. and there is only one way to His salvation. Psalm 25:10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth Unto such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. Notice there is a qualification in this verse. Only those that keep His covenant can claim this promise. It is impossible for you to keep His covenant if you don't know His covenant. If that is the case, you had better "get crackin". Psalm 25:11 For Thy name's sake, O LORD, Pardon mine iniquity; for it is great. 12 What man is he that feareth the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way that He shall choose. The word "feareth" should be translated "revereth" or "loveth". Notice that God can teach you in the way that He chooses. Some of you have a destiny. Psalm 25:13 His soul shall dwell at ease; And his seed shall inherit the earth, 14 The secret of the LORD is with them that fear Him; And He will shew them His covenant. Do you and your children have peace of mind? Does your household receive the counsel of the Lord? God will show you how, if you will let Him. Psalm 25:15 Mine eyes are ever toward the LORD; For He shall pluck my feet out of the net. 16 Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; For I am desolate and afflicted. When you find yourself desolate and afflicted, don't forget to bind yourself to the Lord and His Word. Let's complete our study in Psalm 27. Psalm 27:11 Teach me Thy way. O LORD. And lead me in a plain path. Because of mine enemies. God's way is what should be important to you. If you will learn His way, your enemies haven't a chance. Psalm 27:12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: For false witnesses are risen up against me. and such as breathe out cruelty. When you share God's truth with others. You can expect people to spread lies about you. God will take care of His own, and the false witnesses will get what they have coming. Psalm 27:13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. The land of the living is right here on earth today. Those who love and serve God can see His goodness. Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen thine heart: Wait, I say, on the LORD.

Bind yourself to the Lord. Entwine yourself in His Word. Father offers blessings, and He also offers a curse. You will have blessings and strength, if you will bind yourself to your Father and His Word. In His Service, Arnold Murray
