4.

1 Methodology & data sources

Validity of any research programme depends upon the quality of data collected. Once the objective of research was correctly defined and studied, data was required for analyzing and assessing the current status, practice and various factor related to collective bargaining & National Coal Wage Agreement system in the B.C.C.L.., DHANBAD. However, it was not possible to examine the whole universe in the study. So we just relied upon a part of the universe (sample) which gives sufficient and reliable information. Sampling: B.C.C.L. DHANBAD is a large population. Sampling can give us adequate results as it ensures a higher reliable representation of information. Keeping this idea and objective of this study in mind, 30 employee were taken as sample. Sampling Procedure The main methods that have been adopted for collection for the research work are: Personal Interview Observation

Primary data : Primary data & information have been collected through questionnaire. Free and frank discussion and interview with the companys workers.

Questionnaire: A set of questionnaire was prepared with well structured questions. For filling the questionnaire, information was mainly collected with the help of those workers who were literate. Observation method: Acquiring knowledge by personal presence using audio visual perception is the process of observation. I observed day to day affairs through non participation. Secondary data : Secondary data are those which are already available in published form or in unpublished form They were available through circulars, journals, manuals, annual reports and official records of the personnel department of B.C.C.L., DHANBAD. Data Collection Method For collection of primary data survey method was used. The survey was carried out by a structured questionnaire. Secondary datas from websites was also used for the purpose of this study. Below is given the analysis part of the data collected through questionnaire method. Number of response in each scale is converted into percentages respectively to providing a clear picture of the responses.

4.3 Findings

1. 60% of the employees are satisfied with their basic wage, which is a positive sign that company provides fair basic wage to their employees. 2. It was found that union is not taking essential steps to upgrade their understanding with the management, only 20% employee says that union is taking essential steps to upgrade their understanding with the management. 3. It was good that workers representative tell matters with the employee, which they previously discussed with higher authorities.
