CENTRAL DALLAS BUSINESS DISTRICT MOBILITY NEEDS

Spring 2011

STATE HIGHWAY 183

Plans call for more than doubling the highways capacity with the addition of one to two general purpose lanes and two to three managed lanes in each direction. A substantial portion of the land needed to rebuild SH 183 has been acquired.

PROJECT PEGASUS
Project Pegasus is intended to transform the two major Interstate Highways serving Downtown Dallas by totally redesigning I-30 from Sylvan to I-45 and I-35E from Eighth Street to Empire Central Drive (north of SH 183). Project Pegasus focuses on the I-30/I-35E interchange on the western edge of Downtown Dallas (mixmaster), the depressed portion of I-30 south of downtown (canyon), and the portion of I-35E from the mixmaster to SH 183 (lower Stemmons).
