Adani Power Ltd. (APL) Statement for Media meet

Friends, I am proud to state that yesterday evening Adani Power created history by synchronizing first-ever super-critical

technology based 660 MW turbine in India at Mundra.

This is not only the first super-critical turbine in the country but what makes it special is that this has been synchronized within 36 months from the inception, which is the fastest

implementation ever by any power developer in the country.

Our project management skills and abilities have been tested fully because this implementation record has been achieved despite the project facing disruptions due to major earth quake in China which impacted our suppliers facilities as also Chinese employment visa issues.

It is also a matter of pride that this project displays Adani Groups commitment of growth with clean energy being the first super-critical technology based project in the world to be

certified for carbon credit under United Nations Framework on Climate Change.

The total capacity of 4620 MW at Mundra will make it the largest single location thermal power plant in the country and one of the fifth largest in the world and would be completed by March 2012 ahead of schedule.

As you are aware, we are implementing various projects totaling 16500 MW which will be completed by 2015 as part of our vision to create generation capacity of 20,000 MW by 2020.

We remain confident that 20,000 MW will be created much ahead of the target year of 2020.

We are currently implementing nearly 1000 km long high voltage DC double circuit line connecting Mundra power station to Northern India. This will be commissioned by March 2011. This is the first private sector HVDC transmission project in the country ensuring free flow of power between Western and Northern Hinterland.

It is a matter of great pride for me to share another very important achievement of Adani Group.

We have commenced operations at the worlds largest automated import Coal Terminal on the West Port at Mundra having 60 MnT capacity.

This complex green field project was also implemented in a record time of less than 30 months which is yet another testimony of Adani Groups commitment to develop

infrastructure projects in the shortest span.

This Coal Terminal will ensure smooth flow of coal to Adani Power, Tata Powers project at Mundra and several utility companies in Western and Northern Hinterland of the country.

Further, the same terminal is under further expansion to achieve 100 MnT capacity.

This is Adani Groups contribution to strengthening the countrys energy needs by creating world class logistics and port infrastructure.

Our Coal Mining, Shipping and Port Operations alongwith Power Generation & Transmission makes Adani fully integrated power player in the country.

Year 2010 has been very special for Adani Group since we have commenced commercial operations at Dahej Port and have now commenced operations at Coal Terminal at Mundra and have now synchronized the first super-critical turbine of the country.

This string of achievements for a Gujarat based company is a clear manifest of our humble contribution to keep Gujarat at the forefront of Indias economic growth and that too in the Golden Jubilee Year of this State. This makes it very special to me, personally.

On this momentous occasion, I wish to congratulate the respective project teams and various other members of Adani Group who have put their tireless efforts to make these dreams come true as we are dedicating ourselves as a national infrastructure player.

My heartiest thanks to all the contractors, service provider and suppliers and most importantly to all the agencies of State and Central Govt., lenders and shareholders; without whose support these projects would not have been possible.

At Adani Group, our actions are clear manifestation of our commitment to building critical infrastructure for India so that India becomes a super economic growth engine.

Thank You
