What is worship? Most dictionaries will point you to an old english term worthschipe meaning an acknowledgement of worth. The most common greek word translated as worship from the New Testament is proskuneo. Literally it means to kiss toward At its core worship is about seeing God as He is: Holy, Eternal Creator, Sustainer, Provider, One with no Beginning or End, Redeemer, Friend. All of these are biblical expressions of who God has revealed Himself to be and each is a reason He alone is worthy of praise. When Moses asked who he should say sent him to pharaoh God said tell them Yahweh (translated THE I AM) sent you. Worship is first and foremost recognition of the I AM. Lord, help us to see You and hold You high that we might give You the honor You are due. amen

Womens Bible Study Wednesday, September 14th 6:30pm Hardly anyone who hears the full story of Jesus, walks away thinking HE was no big deal. Some who dont know HIM will. But, most people know, down deep, when they are dealing with Jesus, they are dealing with greatness. God has chosen a man with a brilliant mind and a kind warm heart to speak confidently of the Christ who IS the center of the universe. Some of the Christians at Colosse needed to be reminded of who Christ is. Ladies, you are invited to join in the study of this short book. This study will be led by Norma Holtom during the class time on Wednesdays, beginning on September 14th.

POSTPONED:
The Ladies Movie Night scheduled for this Friday, August 19, has been postponed and will be held at a later date.

A Note From Brad.

This week marks a milestone for my wife and me. Kim and I have been married 25 years today. That is so hard for me to fathom. It goes without saying: Im a lucky, lucky man! I look forward to many more great years ahead with her. Speaking of marriage, we had a great start to our couples class this past Sunday. I wanted to make sure that everyone understands that it is not a parenting class. Our intention is to try and strengthen our marriages at FACC. This past Sunday, we looked at the theme of Finding Holiness and Happiness. This Sunday we will meet again in the Fellowship Hall and our theme will be: Its Not About You. If you want to still join us for the remaining five sessions, feel free to do so. We ask that you be on time so we can make the most of our hour together. We start at 9:15. This week one of our own will be preaching as our Mystery Speaker. I hope you can join us at 6 p.m. Sunday night. I want to inform you of some important information concerning the upcoming weeks. On August 25th, I am looking for individuals who would help pass out flyers through neighborhoods. We will perform this task between 10-noon. Call me at 740.550.9882 if you can help or e-mail me at info@myfacc.com. This Fall I will be preaching a series entitled: Celebrating the Disciplines. On September 4 th we will be learning about Prayer and on the 11th we will talk about Fasting. As a challenge to all who will participate, we are asking you to Fast and Pray on September 17th. Coupled with that challenge, all who plan to fast are invited to a special time of worship on Saturday night. Our fast will then end on the 18th. Look for more details in the next newsletter. Be sure to check out the bulletin board by the nursery for upcoming Life group and elective information. This Fall, we will implement some new modifications into our second worship hour. In light of that, I have asked Scott Brown to write a series of worship thoughts for our newsletter to help prepare the way. Cya Sunday, Brad Seevers, Eph. 3:20-21

SOME SUNDAY SCHOOL CHANGES By Glen Shady There are some awesome changes coming to Sunday school classes very soon. Beginning the first Sunday in September, the Middle School and High School classes will be combining. With this combined class studies will be focused around a variety of different types of lessons. For example, this fall the new class will study through three different series before Decembers end. The first is a DVDbased series, the second is a small group series and will feature discussion-driven lessons, and the final series is a 6 week study through the book of Acts. We believe this variety of lesson types will not only be engaging, but will help our students become more like Jesus. Of course, this class does not have to only benefit teenagers. We want some adults to make this their Sunday morning class as well. This is not a trick. We are not going to make you teach your second week after coming. We just see this class time as a relaxed time that affords the opportunity to rub elbows with teens while learning about the Bible. Through this, we hope that some level of service toward and/or with the teens will be a natural transition down the road, but the only real expectation from the beginning is that you come to class as a student serious about learning. So whether you are currently attending a Sunday morning class or not, if you are open to the idea of taking part in this I encourage you to contact Nick Hinson or myself about becoming a part of our class upstairs. I am excited about everything happening upstairs, but I will not be a part of it for long. The first Sunday in October I will be starting a new Sunday school class for adults. This class is targeted toward young adults who do not currently have a class that they are involved in on Sunday mornings. With that said any adult that wishes to be a part of this class is more than welcome to join. In this class we will be studying chapter by chapter through one book of the Bible at a time. Do not be fooled by this description, studying through the Bible this way can be really exciting, and I think that we will be capturing that potential. So if you want to not only learn about the Bible on a whole new level, but learn about how to study it yourself, I encourage you to give this new class a one month trial run to see if this is something that can help you serve God better.

ROC R ROC Cookie Ministry Need Its that time of year again.new students moving in and gearing up for life on our Ohio University Campus. If you would like to make and donate cookies here is how they ask that we do it. Place 3 or 4 average cookies in a zip lock bag. Cookie bars work great, also. (Regular sandwich bags tend to spill and dont keep the cookies fresh and we want to keep handling to a minimum. Mix and match or have them all the same kind.) Cookie deadline is Tuesday, August 30, 2011.
