Conclusions
The Asia-Pacific MICs have done well to reduce extreme poverty but they still have a long way to go to achieve MDG targets relating to hunger, health and sanitation. Despite fairly good growth performance, they are missing out the opportunity to expand effort on basic services by not taxing enough and not spending enough on social services. They also have to improve service delivery by improving quality of public services; tackling corruption; and expanding basic infrastructure.
