BUSINESS COMMUNICATION III MBA 2012 BATCH ASSIGNMENTS FOR CAF

The assignments given below (Second and the Third in the Series) will be completed by all the students by 19th Sept 2011 and the same will be submitted on the day of the BC Class of the Group during the week commencing from the same day during their respective classes to Prof (Col) A K Rajpal for evaluation.

PUBLIC SPEAKING AND PRESENTATION I Critical Thinking Probe Make a Presentation of about 5-6 Minutes duration each on any Current Topic of your Choice, the Written Script of which should run in 10 foolscap size papers to be put in CAF in continuation of the First Assignment after putting a Paper in between giving details of :1. The Topic 2. Your Name, Class Roll No and Date of Submission.

While the CAF will be submitted by hand, you will be required to speak simultaneously in class for 3-4 minutes on the same topic ( with or without laptop ). II Personal Assessment Form A one page 150-200 words document will also be submitted in the CAF (last page) giving out honest personal assessment of your communication skills in TTHIRD PERSON. This assessment will also be forwarded to your respective APOs on his/her E Mail ID duly documented with your NAME, CLASS Roll NO and DATE of submission (The same day as that of submitting it in the CAF). This will be documented by the concerned APOs and put up to the ADG and Head, ABS within a week of submission after showing it to the respective Programme Coordinators and Programme Directors. A specimen personal assessment is appended below : Karan Vasudeva (your name) of MBA 2012 Batch hails from Bijnaur with a mediocre BC

Competence. His written and oral communication skills need a definite improvement. Although his thought process is orderly, he tends to mix up the usage of verbs in both the expressions. He usually thinks in his mother tongue and not in the language of Business Communication, ie English and therefore uses a lot of non fluencies (umhs, you see, ah, I mean etc) while speaking too. Accordingly, his presentations are also delivered in a staccato tone/note in which he flounders for words and expressions. Karan is required to speak in English with his friends and family members even if they respond in any other language and he also needs to read a newspaper daily and a magazine weekly and do mock drills on any read topic of choice by way of speaking and writing a note on the same, thereby, developing his own opinion also on various issues. This practice will certainly put him on road to recovery and improvement in BC. Karan has scored .. marks out of 100 each in BC in I and II Terms respectively with a CGPA of . in both the terms.
NOTE : No second chance or variation in the date of
submission can be affected due to busy time schedule for maintenance of CAF. Students not following the schedule will

miss 50 marks for this activity of CAF (Both, Written Script in file and the Class Presentation). No marks for the first assignment will be given if you dovetail the missed first assignment with this new assignment. CAF opened during the First Assignment will continue. This assignment will be placed below the first one with a cover page titled Second CAF Assignment. The last page of Self Assessment will carry 10 marks. The total marks for this entire activity will be therefore be distributed as given below :1. Layout of the Script in CAF 2. Contents of the Script ( Class Test II ) 3. Presentation in the Class followed by Q/A (GD) 4. Self Assessment (Viva Voce) - 10 marks - 20 marks

- 20 marks - 10 marks ---------------Total - 60 Marks

Since the CAF will become increasingly bulky, present it in a better bound fashion, as deemed fit please.

COMMENTS ABOUT THE PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENT A very casual and shoddy work generally, except in case of a miniscule minority. Will not take you very far. Mostly copied from either each other or from the net and no originality at all.

Better performance is expected this time. Do not copy. Think and apply the classroom discussions more than the net assistance. Some students are not writing their Class Roll no and the Group on the first page of CAF, thereby, risking correct assessment against their name for University results. Please note that this entire activity is the last in the series of BC during this Term carrying 60 Marks. Any one not attending to it in time will lose those many marks straightaway.
