1. Introducing SICARE light

SICARE light is an easy to use remote control, which enables you to operate equipment using only spoken commands. Switch on the light, select a radio station, turn up the heating, make a phone call all this without lifting a finger. A convenient way to handle many situations in life. Most equipment that can be operated using an infrared remote control can also be operated by the SICARE light . SICARE light is equally suitable for private and commercial use (e.g. in nursing homes). The learned commands can be sent by SICARE light to the appropriate equipment. This allows voice-operated control of different equipment from one remote control unit. SICARE light can replace your other remote controls.

3. Safety notes
For your own safety please observe the following points:

General
Please follow the notes in these operating instructions. SICARE light may not be used in the bath. SICARE light may not be used or stored in damp or hot rooms. SICARE light may not be used for safety-related control functions such as emergency calls. However, a nurse call system can of course be operated by SICARE light . Repairs must not be carried out by yourself. Contact your specialist dealer. Only open battery compartment when unit is switched off. Always use only one type of battery / rechargeable battery at a time. Replace all used batteries at the same time.

If the SICARE light is not in use for a prolonged period, remove the batteries to prevent them from leaking inside the unit. Check in the technical descriptions of lights, heating, ventilation or similar, whether these may be operated with an infrared-controlled socket.

5. Preparation
Tip: First consider which appliances you would like to operate with SICARE light and make a list of them. You should also include the manufacturers of the appliances in this list. Appliances in the following categories can be operated: Television / teletext / video recorder / satellite receiver / amplifier / radio / cassette recorder / CD player / telephone / light 1/2/3 / ventilator / heating / air conditioning / door / window / blinds / curtain / bed / book (page turning device) / appliances (various devices, which are only switched on and off) / help me (nurse call system) One appliance type per category can be operated. For instance two different televisions cannot be operated with SICARE light . However, it is possible to operate the same appliance in different rooms (e.g. door opener), provided these are of the same appliance type.

Every person pronounces the same words slightly differently. To ensure that SICARE light always understands you correctly, you must teach SICARE light how you pronounce the commands. Ensure that no loud noises occur near to you during training (banging of doors, voices, television). Note: For best results, carry out training at the place and at the same distance as SICARE light will later be used. Lay SICARE light where it will later normally be placed. Pronounce the words exactly as you would like to pronounce them later. The first training session following selection of appliances is automatically carried out twice. Note: To ensure that SICARE light understands you correctly, please follow the sample pronunciation approximately. 1. Switch on: red key .

If no or not all commands have been trained, operation is only possible via keys (see 6.6 Operating SICARE light using the keys on page 38). If you subsequently add a new appliance to the selection,SICARE light will then carry out training of only the additionally available commands. There is therefore no need to re-train all commands. Every command word can be trained up to eight times (including training of individual words). If further training is desired, all trained command words must first be erased (see 6.7 Erasing saved settings on page 39).

commands without a spoken confirmation. 6. Saving settings: Press green key P 2 seconds.

5.7 Setting the length of the infrared signal

For certain functions the length of the infrared signal is important. For example, the television volume will become louder, the longer the "louder" signal continues. So if a long infrared signal is sent every time, the change in volume will be equally great each time. This can have the disadvantage that fine setting of the volume can no longer be carried out. SICARE light provides the option of setting the infrared signal length for certain appliances according to your requirements. 1. Switch on: red key . 4. Press key M. 5. Use keys Jor K to set the infrared signal length. = long signal for TV, i.e. the volume changes greatly. = short signal for TV, i.e. the volume changes only slightly. 6. Repeat steps 3 5 for other appliances set up. 7. Saving settings: Press green key P 2 seconds. The infrared signal length can be set for following appliances. TV, video recorder (VCR), satellite receiver (SAT), amplifier (AMP), radio (TUN), cassette recorder (TAPE) and CD player.

6. Operation
6.1 General
All appliances, which you wish to operate with SICARE light, must be in standby mode or switched on. 1. Switch on SICARE light with the red key . 2. Speak command word for the required appliance (e.g. "TELEVISION"). SICARE light repeats the word. 3. Speak command for the desired function (e.g. "LOUDER"). SICARE light repeats the command and then carries it out. Note: You can switch off the confirmation of the commands (see 5.6 Setting the volume of SICARE light on page 34). 4. Further functions for the last selected appliance can now be spoken, without having to re-select the appliance. The appliance used last is shown in the display. To select programs or titles above 9, first say "NINE" and then the command "FORWARDS" with short pauses until the desired program is reached. On certain appliance types it is possible to select the corresponding program directly by giving two digits (e.g. "THREE" and "FIVE" for program 35). To completely mute the volume of an appliance (e.g. during a telephone call) say "MUTE". To restore the volume to its previous level, say "MUTE" again. A different appliance can be directly selected at any time with the appropriate command word.

6.2 Recording with video and cassette recorders
