Despite Growing Scandal, White House Says Theres Not A Lot To Brief Obama On About Solyndra Q: Has the president been briefed about what has developed on that, just has he been briefed at all about the questions being raised White House Press Secretary Jay Carney: I think hes probably read some news accounts of it, Im not aware that hes been briefed. What happened here is an investment did not pan out. There are a variety of reasons for that that have to do with the international market place, the cost of solar panels, the Chinese pricing their competitive products and you know beyond that, its a story that has to do with an inquiry by the Hill. So theres not a lot to brief him on. Have you determined what entirely the meeting was about and whether or not the loan was brought up and discussed? Carney: I would point you simply to what George Kaiser himself has said that he did not lobby or discuss, he did not lobby Administration officials with regard to this with Solyndra. He was involved in a lot of charitable efforts and its our understanding that while we havent looked into every meeting that he might have had here, that that was the focus of his conversations generally speaking at the White House.
