KLEIN GROUP LIMITED HAS A REAL GRIP ON SAFETY

Klein Group Limited is an Australian company specialising in stainless steel fabrication. The company has developed the KAG Rail, the worlds first patented safety hand rail, which has set a new global standard for safety hand rails. Klein Group Limited has already received a number of orders from major organisations in Australia and overseas for its unique and innovative KAG Rail. OH&S managers worldwide are claiming this new design will substantially improve safety in the workplace as it has been independently tested by Queensland University of Technology to improve grip by up to 80% in dry conditions and 40% in wet and greasy conditions. The KAG Rail addresses occupational health and safety concerns in a variety of working environments and is reducing slip and fall accidents, particularly in wet and greasy conditions and emergency situations. Currently there is no established worldwide standard for hand rails. A standard hand rail has a smooth surface and provides little grip in wet or greasy conditions. This inferior design is believed to contribute to slip and fall accidents, Public Liability claims and even loss of life. Approximately 1,000 construction and industrial workers in Australia are hospitalised each year with significant injuries caused by slip and fall accidents. The KAG Rail has a unique inbuilt swage (pattern) that contours the shape of a closed hand and can improve safety in a wide range of industries such as mining and manufacturing as well as industrial marine, construction and healthcare. The design in stainless steel material ensures that rails can be easily cleaned, eliminating hygiene concerns in healthcare environments. Additionally, the KAG Rail can be fitted with fibre optic lights for operation in underground coal mines as well as luxury boats, stairwells and other industrial situations. Also, services such as water, electrical, air/gas and data can be concealed inside the rail. Southports Volunteer Marine Rescue (VMR) is currently trialing the KAG Rail in their rescue boats and the feedback from their operators has been very positive. In commenting on the KAG rail, VMR Unit Training Co-ordinator Ken Gibbs said: The general consensus is that the rail offers superior holding capacity in both wet and dry conditions, without compromising strength. Being able to fit our fingers into the ridges gives us a better grip and makes the operation much safer. In commenting on the implementation of the KAG Rail, Dan Klein, Executive Chairman and CEO, said: The implementation of the KAG Rail has dramatically reduced slip and fall incidents in many Australian work places. We are currently working with Occupational Health and Safety authorities to encourage the implementation of superior safety rails in industries with high risk of slip and fall accidents.
