The 80-20 Rule applies in many areas of life. We spend 80% or our effort on that which is only
20% relevant and 20% on that which is worth 80%. Of endeavors, 80% goes fine, 20% will give
us problems; 80% of the customers, patients, residents, clients… are satisfied, pay on time,
make work enjoyable; 20% are dissatisfied, do not pay, complain. With this knowledge, we can
focus our attention on that which is worth 80%, that which deserves our life energies.

In just one piece of paper, or the table upon which sits your computer, is the whole universe.
The universe made the sun, the sun made the planet, the planet made the tree, the tree grew the
paper. In the tree is the farmer who grew the tree, the logger who cut the tree, the person who
delivered the tree to the mill and the person who turned the tree into paper or lumber at the mill,
and the parents and the parents of the parents of the farmer , the logger, the trucker, the miller,
and the vegetables and meat of the earth that each of these persons ate and the teachers of
each of the persons and their parents, and the water that sustained each of them and the tree.

fear and attachment, know the sweet joy of the way.

The Buddha realized that that he was not the first to become a Buddha. "There have been
many Buddhas before me and will be many Buddhas in the future," The Buddha recalled to
his disciples. "All living beings have the Buddha nature and can become Buddhas." For
this reason, he taught the way to Buddhahood.

The two main goals of Buddhism are getting to know ourselves and learning the Buddha's
teachings. To know who we are, we need to understand that we have two natures. One is
called our ordinary nature, which is made up of unpleasant feelings such as fear, anger,
and jealousy. The other is our true nature, the part of us that is pure, wise, and perfect. In
Buddhism, it is called the Buddha nature. The only difference between us and the Buddha
is that we have not awakened to our true nature.

The earth upon which we sit is moving at 1,000 miles per hour around itself. The
rotating earth is moving 67,000 miles per hour around its sun. The sun is moving a half
a million miles per hour around its galaxy. Our galaxy is moving as well around our
universe. And no one knows how fast our universe is moving through no one knows
what.
