(Note: If youve completed a certificate program, please list in Other row and indicate certificate obtained.) Should you be elected, what are three specific areas youd like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it? _My goals for the Municipal Court serving Geauga County are to 1) Protect the Victims, 2) Concentrate on reducing the number of repeat offenders, 3) Streamline Case Management so cases, especially criminal case, are adjudicated more promptly/prompt resolution of criminal cases has a greater deterrent effect, and if I may add a fourth area, 4) fiscal restraint by closely monitoring overall court efficiency and reducing the number of magistrate hours by handling more cases myself. The rules of ethics for judicial candidates prohibit specific statements of how cases would be handled. I will treat everyone with respect and as individual persons to determine causes of criminal behavior consistent with my background in law enforcement and in psychology. I will foster increased use of the many excellent personal resource agencies to intervene in the individual causes of criminal behavior. I will promote public education of the court system. __________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________________ Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you? ________________________________ _I have dedicated my professional life to protecting and serving the people of Geauga County. I have been a police officer for 26 years, a practicing attorney for 15 years, and a criminal justice professor at colleges and police academies for 17 years, I have a unique perspective and appreciation for how the law affects our quality of life. 85% of the cases filed in the Municipal Court are criminal/traffic cases. These are the types of cases I have studied, taught, investigated, filed, testified about, and utilized to protect people. No other candidate has this amount or type of experience with the cases that are handled by the Municipal Court. Our law enforcement officers deserve a judge familiar with their work and that will hold all parties accountable to the Constitution and the appropriate principles of law. I am the only independent candidate and only candidate with front line experience in the practical application of the law. My training, experience, and education are best suited to the qualities required to be a fair and effective Judge of the Municipal Court so that the law properly protects and serves the people of Geauga County._______________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________
