ABSTRACT
A study about functional areas overview. Functional Area of any industry has major four department that has been followed. A. B. C. D. HRM FINANCE MARKETING PRODUCTION

The study aims at finding the key drivers of the functional areas and their impact on the Rajsriya Automotive Industry. It includes the analysis of reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy and tangibles of the functions. The aim of the study was to provide the management, suggestions to maintain and improve the key dimensions of the service quality and thus to improve the overall service functions and performance of the Port. Here we may see the Rajsriya automotive industry performance on this functional area overview based on my individual training on over the 14 days experience.

The time period was not enough to conduct the study in an efficient and effective manner. 1. There is a chance of personal bias from the part of the respondents. 2. The study is based on the researchers views and insights. 3. The findings of the study may not be applicable in general.

1.1.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY


The study can be used for the thorough understanding of the positives and negatives of the service quality and service delivery of Rajsriya automotive industry. The study can be applied for the improvement of the key drivers of service quality, vis, Reliability, Responsibility, Assurance, Empathy and Tangibles and take necessary actions, if needed.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This project was taken up as a part of the requirement of Master of Business Administration course as per the directions of Adhiyaman college of engg hosur. The student of second year MBA course has to undertake a Departmental Study project and to study the working of various departments in an Organization.

An organization is the arrangement of dependent parts of functions and their interrelation in the structure and to provide the means necessary where the efforts of a group of individuals will be directed rationally towards a common objective.

This project studies the different departments at Rajsriya automotive industry and the functioning of each department and the organizational hierarchy in the company. Rajsriya automotive industry:RAJSRIYA GROUP was founded in 1977 to take advantage of the opportunities in Chennai automotive market. RAJSRIYA GROUP being one of the largest automobile assembly & systems manufacturer in Chennai and Hosur, supplies products with high quality at competitive price to both domestic and international markets. RAJSRIYA GROUP has extensive manufacturing facilities at Chennai and Hosur to manufacture more than 350 assemblies using 900 machines with 1200 skilled work force. RAJSRIYA GROUP specialized in the manufacture of components, modules and systems used in Two wheelers, Three wheelers and Four wheeler vehicles. The Two wheeler products include Exhaust systems for entire range from moped to motorcycles, various type of foot rests, mud-guards & oil fork assemblies, carrier assemblies, steering column assemblies etc. The Four wheeler products include steering column assemblies, DDU tank assemblies, vacuum booster assemblies, clutch servo - Pneumatic body assemblies etc., for brakes of heavy vehicles, auto electric parts like wiper assemblies, Brush gear assemblies, contact sets etc,. Also, we do lot of deep drawn parts our four wheeler assemblies comprises of deep drawn parts (height of 200mm) with high degree of surface finish for brakes & Servo clutches and precision pressed sheet metal components for steering columns for four wheelers. A dedicated team of Managers / Engineers in Design, Methods, PPC, Production, Quality, Tooling and Administration work efficiently to meet the stringent requirements of various reputed customers. The GROUP uses latest technology in all departments and follows best practices in the industry . Company has a centralized engineering design department, equipped with latest press tool design soft wares, soft ware for optimum utilization of material, proto sample building shop etc,.

RAJSRIYA GROUP is equipped with latest measuring & testing equipment to check dimensions, surface finish, hardness, painting & plating thickness, full fledged laboratory with imported equipment to conduct various tests for powder coating, including salt spray. Quality and process controls are very closely monitored using latest statistical techniques. RAJSRIYA GROUP practices high quality standards, process capabilities, research and problem solving techniques to meet its quality objective. These are achieved by continuous training, weekly review by the top management for the movement of quality indicators & Total employee involvement. One of the employees being rewarded by the president of rajsriya group for best Cost saving of the month

The suggestion scheme is based on the same principle, which motivate the employees to make suggestions for improvement in any area of our operation. RAJSRIYA GROUP believes in making incremental improvements in our process by practicing Kaizens, single piece flow, Lean manufacturing, poke-Yoke, 5S, JIT & Kanban systems. Quality & Core Competencies Rajsriya group's strategy is to build core capabilities in key areas such as production of components, modules and systems used in the Two wheeler & Four wheeler vehicles. Heavy investments over the past few years has enabled Rajsriya group of Industries to create some of the best industries in Chennai & Hosur using the most advanced equipment and techniques. The company now has 6 manufacturing facilities in Hosur & Chennai. Rajsriya group of Industries has established strategic partnerships with many major customers such as TVS Group, Mando, Tafe, Delphi, Sona-Koyo, Rane-NSK. Through strategic acquisitions, continued development of relationships with strategic partners and the development of its own technical center. VISION The company has the vision for next ten years to pioneer in supplying casting of highest value at optimum price, which are subassemblies /parts by itself for OEMs in automobile engineering and industrial applications. It wants to be the Best single source solution provider for all its customers casting requirements.

At Chennai Plant Lean Manufacturing Press Line Latest Technology machines are available like CNC Turning centers with all accessories. Hydraulic presses, Mechanical presses ( 5 to 150 ton), Spot and Projection welding machines ( 3KVA to75KVA), C/G, S/G, Lathe, Traub and all conventional machines are available. Latest IMTEs are used to check Outer, Inner Dimensions, Hardness and Plating thickness. Computerized Logistics, Purchasing, Accounts and HR activites. Modern tool room with sophisticated instruments.

1) Strategy:Strategy express in what direction the company will be going in the future. Based on market research, competition analyses and self-analysis, the crucial differentiating competencies or strong sides of the company are identified and formulated. The coordinating mission and the future goals are determined taking into account the above factors.

2) Structure:The structure of an organization is what follows from division of work, the tasks and responsibilities, both horizontally and vertically. It is the total of various ways in which the work is divided into separate tasks and the way I which these tasks are coordinated. It also includes how the policies and procedures, govern the way in which the organization acts with in itself and with in its environment.

3) System:The decision- making systems within the organization can range from management intuition, to structured computer system to complex expert system and artificial intelligence. It includes:1) Computer systems 2) HR systems Shanti Iron and Steel has an operational system wherein humans are the main decision making bodies. Various departments exist and each department work on their own. The HR department works on the functions regarding human employees, such as discipline, welfare, recruitment and promotion etc, the Marketing department works on marketing of products and sales of the same. The Finance department handles the functions regarding money transactions and

Maintenance of the records etc. the production department mainly performs production of good quality of product.

4) Skills:Skills refer to the fact that employees have the skills needed to carry out the companys strategy. Training and Development ensuring people know how to do their jobs and stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques. Here in Rajsriya Automotive Industry different training programmers are given to officers and executives to specialize them in their particular discipline of work.

5) Staff:At Shanti Iron and steel we believe that people are the key resourceespecially in a high tech competitive environment. It is the people behind the technology, behind the sale and behind the service that make the difference. That is that reason we take exceptional care to hire the best both in terms of qualification and attitudes, and constantly train and upgrade their skills.

Administration Department:Administration department work is monitoring every activity of company and doing all finance work like income tax, purchasing and deciding workers payments and all staff payments. Administration department also decides yearly bonus and provides finance to all departments.

Office Department:Office department work is following all orders and instruction of Administration department and doing all accounting work and most important work is giving payments to the staff and workers at the end of every month.

Production Department:Production department work is observing all activities carried out in the manufacturing unit and seeing whether material is correct or not and produce good quality products and observing the machine shop work.

Purchase Department:Purchase department is concerned with purchasing of raw material for the company and taking orders for raw casting engine components, printing machinery components, EI cut machinery components.

My Experience in RAI
It was a very Good Experience I went through process and procedures followed by different department. I got to know the different hierarchy level. I was stunned seeing their commitment level. The philosophy of RAI has at its base the idea that all industrial endeavors must positively impact life and society around it. It is a confluence of mind and matter to create and generate such power, which can impact human life in positive way. There commitments are a part of the imbibed values and ethos followed by them to meet their goals and the customers expectations from them. Working is RAI has thought me that you cannot achieve anything without hard work, RAI firmly believes that

THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR HARD WORK

Important things observed and learnt in RAI

Learnt: I knew that how to save time in the production department and in which situation have take the correct decision. How to work as a team. How to utilise mechanics better. Self discipline. Coming in time. Good work culture. Self confidence. Group communication in the organisation.

How to implement plan to work so fast. How to identify waste and reuse for production.

Observation: RAI office is very clean RAI is fully computerized. All staff members are very friendly and hard working Companys workers are well disciplined In SIS every worker and the staff member are punctual to the duty Security department is very strict SIS machine shop is very clean The premises of RAI are clean.
