This area of learning includes counting, sorting, matching, seeking patterns, making connections, recognizing relationships and working with numbers, shapes, space and measures. These is developed through stories, songs, games and imaginative play, so that children enjoy experimenting with numbers. children become confident and competent in learning and using key skills.

All children who enter Little Scholars Academy at two or three years of age follow the British Foundation Stage until the end of Year 1 at the age of 6 years.The foundation Stage is a distinct phase of Education that prepares young children to move to Key Stage 1 of the British National Curriculum or the Kenyan 8-4-4 curriculum. We at Little Scholars aim at providing an effective education. The teachers understand and implement a relevant curriculum. We are aware that children develop rapidly during early years - physically, intellectually, emotionally, socially and Spiritually. We ensure that all children feel included, secured and valued. Parents and teachers work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect within which the children can have security and confidence. The foundation Curriculum ensures that each child develops his or her skills in the following areas, 1. Personal, social and emotional development. Successful personal, social and emotional development is critical for very young children in all

4. Knowledge and understanding of the World. In this area of learning, children are developing the crucial knowledge, skills and understanding that help them to make sense of the world. This forms a foundation for later work in science, design and technology, history,geography and information and technology. 5. Creative and Physical development. Creativity is fundamental to successful learning. Being creative enables children to make connections between one area of learning and another and to so extend their understanding. Art ,music, dance, role play and imaginative play is used to enhance this area.Physical development in the foundation stage is about improving skills of coordination, control, manipulation and movement. It also helps children gain confidence in what they do and enables them to feel the positive benefits of being healthy and active.This part of our curriculum ensures that the children develop a sense of well-being. 6. Spiritual development. Little Scholars uses the Bible as its basis to impart Christian values to the young children to enable them grow up to love and serve God.
