Kon sayuron ang pangamuyo sang mga kabataan may dako nga gahum sa paghidaet sang kalibutan. 2. Ang ilinaway subong indi na ayhan pungsod batok sa isa ka pungsod. Ang aton palibut nagahalit na sa aton pagpangabuhi. Buha, linog, bagyo nagadugang kabaskog nga ang mga pungsod wala sing igkasarang sa pagpakibato. 3. REFLECTION ON THE READINGS OF THE 29TH SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME YR. A _________________

Christians as we are, as long as we live in this world, we do not belong exclusively to the Kingdom of God but also to an earthly kingdom. God has placed us in a family and inserted our family in a society that is in turn, a conglomeration of families that comprise the earthly Kingdom. It is the will of God that we will abide by the rule of this society that we belong to. There are times and even most of the time, however, that we find ourselves being pulled together by the invisible forces of these two Kingdoms Gods and the world. As a consequence, we are the mercy of these two conflicting forces vying for our attention. We are perplexed and confused. In todays readings, Jesus comes to us to teach us how to serve God and Caesar. This is how to live as true citizens both of His Kingdom and our own country. When Jesus was still walking on the roads of Palestine he was recognized as a moral teacher. It was no big deal then if every now and then he was consulted on the matter whether the Jews have to pay taxes to a foreign power. The Jews in this case were in a dilemma. Do they have to pay taxes to the foreigners or not. If they do so, they are acknowledging the dominance of a foreign power over them. Thus, denying Yahweh who alone was their king. It they do not. They are inviting political, as well as, religious problems. Those who posed this problem to Jesus were expecting to catch Him off guard without any escape route. If Jesus would answer Yes, He is going against the common sentiment of the people. If No, His enemies would report the matter to the Roman authority. It was human naivety to think that God would fall into the trap set by him. The word uttered by Jesus to them was not an answer to their question. It was euphuism that He doesnt want to join in the fray. He had not time for useless talks. His mission was to bring more people to submit to Gods kingdom.

We believe in the power of children and youth for social change. We believe in the power of prayer for world peace. We believe in the power of the family for world healing and harmony. Indeed, a world at prayer is a world at peace. The family that prays together stays together. When a million peace-loving Filipinos pray together, we can claim peace for the world from the hands of the good Lord and His mother. The tool may be simple but this simplicity will open for us the doors to lasting peace for the world and lead us to the path for the healing of our nation. I am humbly seeking the commitment of all parishes, Basic Ecclesial Communities, schools and our overseas Filipinos to participate in this spiritual undertaking. I see this as a potent tool for catechesis on prayer, on the need for social engagement among Catholics and on the real meaning of peace as taught by the Lord in the gospels. On the part of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, the Episcopal Commission on Catechesis and Catholic Education (ECCCE) will be partner arm of the Family Rosary Crusade to bring this project to its grace filled completion.
