Should you be elected, what are three specific areas youd like to change, address, improve or further research, and how specifically would you go about it? 1.)_The schools are only in existence because of the students that fill them. The schools should only have one purpose; to educate our children. The Chardon School Board needs to focus on what is best for the children in our schools and stop worrying about the personal agendas that are floating around. 2.) We need to make sure we are offering our students scientifically research based educational practices and programs. I have seen too many school districts switch to the flavor of the month in terms of curriculum and instruction. Our schools should offer physical education, art, music, home economics, and other courses that tend to be the first dropped in poor economic times. These courses provide our children a well balanced education and prepare them to be productive citizens that can eventually give back to their communities. 3.) I realize that funds are scarce in these economic times so we must be very resourceful in how the district is spending and where additional funds can be acquired. It is very important that everyone is doing their part to save and spend wisely. If I were elected a school board member, I would not expect to be paid; this is a civic duty as a citizen of Chardon. __________________________________________________________________________________________ Whether for past accomplishments or future goals, why should voters elect you? _I have fifteen and a half years of experience in education. For the past ten years I have been a National Board Certified Teacher and recently became a licensed administrator. I currently work at Ursuline College educating future educators. I have many years of experience working with curriculum and instruction at the state level as well as seven years of experience in business. I have been actively involved in education professional development presenting at International, National, State and Local conferences.
