Stuuents will be leaining specific lessons at each giaue level to help us unite against
bullying. We will celebiate 0nity Bay on Weunesuay, 0ctobei 12th by weaiing oiange. This
is a mass uay so stuuents may weai an oiange shiit with unifoim pants (no shoits). uiils
may also weai pants this uay insteau of the jumpeiskoit.
Pacei is suppoiting this uay. Why. They want stuuents to unite against bullying. What aie
youi tiue colois when it comes to showing youi suppoit foi stuuents who aie bullieu.
Show those being bullieu that they aie not alone, that you caie, anu leau the movement
against bullying. They aie also asking stuuents to wiite "unity" on the notebook, foluei, oi
on a postei to suppoit each othei. uo to PACER.oigBullying foi activities you can uo at
home.
Stiategies we aie teaching the stuuents when they aie bullieu:
1 Remembei that bullying is the pioblem-not you.
2. Remembei that bullying is not peimanent.

they bully.
4. If at all possible, tell someone else about youi expeiience.

Nany stuuents have not tuineu in theii pleuges yet anu families have until Tuesuay, 0ctobei
18th to qualify foi the maiathon T-shiit anu othei piizes. The piize levels aie posteu on the
school web site. Stuuents that have qualifieu so fai aie listeu at the enu of the newslettei.

Many, many thanks to Sacred Heart families and staff for your contributions in making 2011 Marathon
a huge success! Thank you to those who generously sponsored our participants - we are getting closer
and closer to our goal! Thank you to those who generously donated food and supplies; thank you to
those who worked as crossing guards; and thank you to those who volunteered in setting up, serving,
and clean-up! It was a beautiful day of fundraising, friendship, food, and fun!
Congratulations to Amber Collins, MS science teacher
Mrs. Collins, her husband, and son, Ryler, are expecting a baby in March. We are excited to have a
new addition to our Sacred Heart family.
Join us for FAMILY!BINGO Friday, October 14th. Time 6:00-7:30 p.m. in the gym. The cost is $2/
person. Also available: pizza, drinks, popcorn and candy. Prizes are geared for the children. What a
great way to spend time with other families from Sacred Heart!
Parent/teacher conferences-Monday, October 17 and Tuesday, October 18
K-5: An appointment is required. Forms were sent home on Friday. Please return ASAP so we can
schedule your time. We will send home a conrmation slip next week. Conferences are
approximately 15 minutes long.
Parents of 6-8th graders -No appointment is necessary. Teachers/specialists will be available in the
lunchroom. You will wait in line to see each teacher. We ask that you meet with your childs
homeroom teacher!
****Homeroom teachers will distribute the results of your childs NWEA MAP test scores. We want to
make sure that you receive this information.
****Specialist schedule; the following specialists will be available the following days: Monday-
Spanish, PE, music Tuesday-PE, music, Art
Uniform Update
Shorts may be worn through October 15th. Beginning October 17th, shorts may not be worn to school
at all, including non-uniform days. Shorts will resume April 15th.
Remember the only sweatshirts/eece that may be worn in school, is the SHCS logo attire. Orders are
collected the 10th of each month.
Toddler Daycare (12 32 MONTHS)
We have room in our toddler daycare. Please call Ms. Bursey if you are interested in learning more
information.
Cornerstone notes:
1. Parents in 7th and 8th grade will nd quarters and trimesters posted and this is due to the fact that
music and Spanish are for one semester (two quarters). The rest of the subjects are based on trimesters.
This trimester, to view grades, you will have to click on Trimester 1, click Go. Then click on the course
section you would like to view.
Grades 4-8
2. Homework is posted on a daily basis. You can view all assignments in the grade book. Teachers
may list projects in the grade 1 book to show they may be due in a couple weeks. Click on Trimester
1, click Go, then click on course section, and click on ungraded. The assignments that are not graded
or are due at a later date will be posted.
