The result and findings of the study entitled “Multimedia Presentation in

Teaching Plants among Grade V Pupils”, are presented, analyzed and interpreted in this

chapter.

Table 1 shows the performance of the respondents expose to Lecture Method in

the pretest and posttest. In the pretest it tells that most scores falls between the interval 9-

11 which is 50% of the class followed by the interval between 6-8 which is 45% of the

class with a mean of 8.35 and a standard deviation of 1.98, 3-5 had 1 or 5% of the class.

No one of the respondents had passed the 30-item test since the passing score was 15.

In the posttest, most of the scores falls in the interval 15-17 which is 13 or

65% of the class, with a mean of 18.70 and a standard deviation of 1.92, 18-20 had 2 or

10% of the class. There are 4 or 20% of the class got the score of 12-14 interval, and 1 or

5% on the interval 9-11. It also shows that 75% of the class had passed the posttest.

Table 2 shows the performance of the respondents of the class expose to

Multimedia Presentation in the pretest and posttest.

In the pretest, it shows that most of the respondents score falls between the

interval 9-11 which is 40% of the class with a mean of 9.65 and a standard deviation of

2.64, 12-14 had 7 or 35% of the class, and 9-11 had 5 or 25% of the class. No one of the

respondents had passed the 30-item test since the passing score was 15.

In the posttest, it shows that 100% of the class had passed the test. Most of th4e

scores fall in the interval between 24-26 which is 10 or 50% of the class with a mean of

23.70 and a standard deviation of 2.79. There are 10% or 2 in the interval 27-29, 30% or

6 in the interval 21-23 and both the interval of 18-20,and 15-17 got a 1 or 5% of the total

respondents.

Table 3. Independent sample test between Multimedia Presentation and Lecture

Method in their pretest and posttest.

Variables Mean Mean T Sig.(2 Remarks

posttest 18.70 23.70 -5.00 -6.595 .000 Highly

Significant
Ho: There is no significant difference between the performance of the respondents exposed to

the Multimedia Presentation Approach and Lecture Method of the pretest and posttest

Table 3 shows the independent sample test between the performance of the

respondents in Multimedia Presentation and Lecture Method in the pretest and posttest.

The mean performance of multimedia presentation during the pretest is 9.65 and the

lecture method is 8.35. In the posttest, the multimedia got a mean of 23.70 while the

lecture method got 18.70. The mean difference of the two instructional method as regards

with there performance in the pretest indicates that the pretest performance is significant

for it had a mean deference of -1.3 where the posttest got a mean difference of -5.00

which is highly significant. The t-value and significant. (2 tailed) also shows the

significant difference to there pretest and posttest scores. For the t value is -1.761, and the

significant .(2-tailed) is .086 in their pretest compared to their posttest which is -6.595 for

t value and .000 in the significant.(2-tailed).

14
This time the null hypothesis is rejected. It shows that multimedia presentation

helped the respondents for better learning and increase there performance in the topic

plants. Further explanations shows in the next tables with there comparison.

Table 4. Performance of the respondents exposed to Multimedia Presentation in the

pretest and posttest.

Variables Mean Mean Standard Deviation Remarks

Difference
Pretest 9.65 -14.05 2.64 Highly significant
posttest 23.70 2.79

Table 4 shows the result between the pretest and posttest scores of the

respondents exposed to Multimedia presentation approach. The mean value signifies that

there is an increase of the performance of the respondents since it has a mean difference

of -14.05, which is far from zero.

This implies that the use of Multimedia presentation is highly significant

to the set of respondents.

Table 5. Performance of the respondents exposed to Lecture method.

Variables Mean Mean Difference Standard Deviation Remarks

Pretest 8.35 -10.25 1.98 Significant
Posttest 18.70 1.92

Table 5 shows the performance of the respondents exposed to lecture method. The

mean value signifies that there is an increase of the respondents score from pretest to

posttest. Since, it has a mean difference of -10.35.

15
This implies that that the lecture method was also significant to the set of

respondents.

The result showed that Multimedia presentation and Lecture method in teaching

can facilitate learning for both method of teaching was found effective. For, there is a

significant difference between the scores of the respondents in their pretest and posttest.

However, respondents exposed to Multimedia presentation got a higher scores in the

posttest compared to lecture method. Also 100% of the respondents exposed to the

multimedia presentation had passed the posttest and 75% for the lecture method. This

implies that Multimedia presentation especially with the used of PowerPoint presentation

is effective in enhancing learning skills for better understanding regarding plants.

Table 6. Respondents perception checklist about multimedia presentation

16
Table 4 shows the perception of the respondents in the prepared

multimedia presentation. It also shows that mostly of the respondents exposed to

multimedia presentation wants and enjoyed the prepared power point presentation. In the

PP1 to PP9 100% of the respondents corrected Yes and 79.2% in the PP10.

Except the checklist, the respondents were given a question to be answer through

journal writing to determine how the respondents perceive the use of multimedia

presentation with the used of power point presentation.

Question: What can you say about the use of power point presentation ion

teaching?

(Original statement of the respondents)

1. I like computer because anderstan and happy to me.

2. I like computers because it will view is enjoy to see. And his view is beautiful.

3. I like omputer because with study the lessons. With ifficult with computer with git.

Maybe I’m happy the picture in computer.

4. I like the computer because is beauter teautor. Defecolt hard you anderstans yes I’m

happy to see computer.

5. I like computer because understand and happy to me.

6. I like computers because will study to lessons will difficult will pacumputer.

7. I like to see the picture because I understand how a difficult question. Then I’m happy

to see computer.

8. Is very nice to look at a computer. Excited to a computer and beautiful to see.

Lisining for a science about plant.

17
9. I like because of the anderstsnt way the happy to compare.

10. I like the computer because you understand and very happy the computer.

11. compoiter because understand and happy to me.

12. It very nice to look at a computer to my exsome lisining for ascience about a plant

13. I like of the science class because I watch the flower and I happy. I like the picture in

the computer because it is beautiful. I like because I’m understand and enjoy the

picture.

14. I fun to watch the computer. Because many pictures to look and very beautiful \. I like

science picture because we comepyoter the oll children is ewnjoy.

15. I enjoy this day becau ther are woman to bting compyoter and tell science I like and

enjoy because we comrpyoter the oll chelden is enjoy.

16. I like to computer because will sudy tolessons. Will difficult will pacumputer

happy.

17. I like of science class.

18. I can maybe used of power point presentation in teaching because it is fun to

watch.

19. because of powerpoint resention can be capture

20. I fun to watch because it is he like that

21. I like the powerpoint because it is interesting

22. because computer is a beri esi.

These are the original statement of the respondents about there perception

about the use of power point presentation in teaching plants. It shows that mostly of

18
the respondents wants that multimedia presentation especially with the used of power

point should be administered to there class.

Table 7. Ratings of the Pre-Service Teachers on the Developed Power Point

Presentation.

Table 7 shows the rating of pre-service teachers on the developed power

point presentation in the topic plant. It shows that the prepared power point presentation

got higher ratings for mostly of the pre-service raters’ rate in a very good section which is

got a point of 62x4.

Generally the result of the rating of the pre-service teachers on the

developed power point presentation made by the researchers implies that most of them

accepted the power point to use as an instructional material in teaching plants.
