Launch Photoshop and open the target image in the application.

Use a Curves adjustment layer in RGB mode to lighten/ darken the image and then compensate its contrast. (Proctor to verify presence of layer) Use a second Curves adjustment layer to color correct the image using the R, G and B curve panels. (Proctor to verify presence of layer) Convert the background layer to an independent layer by unlocking the layer. (Proctor to verify via missing lock in layer) Use the Crop Tool, set to hide rather than delete, to crop the image to a smaller area that the original, using the Rule of Thirds to guide content selection. (Proctor to verify hide setting) Apply the Reduce Noise filter with a strength of 10, Reduce Color Noise at 50%, Sharpen Details at 10% and Preserve Detail adjusted to taste, to lessen the effects of digital noise in the image. (Proctor to verify settings in dialog box) Apply the Smart Sharpen filter with Lens Blur at 100% amount and 3px radius to better define edges in the image. (Proctor to verify settings in dialog box) Use the Save As command to save the file as a native Photoshop file (.psd) with layers, with your initials added to the file name. Turn off Maximize Compatibility in the save process. (Proctor to verify file)

10 Use the Image Size command to adjust the image to a print resolution of 300 dpi and a width of 6 inches with proportions constrained. (Proctor to verify settings in dialog box) 11 Use the Save for Web & Devices command to save in JPEG format at High quality setting, optimized and scaled to 500px wide, with your initials added to the name of the file. (Proctor to verify settings in dialog box and verify file) 12 Quit Photoshop. (Proctor to verify the original image has not been saved over or altered)
