An Observation Guide for the CLASSROOM VISIT

Read the following statements carefully. Then write your observation report on the provided space. 1. 2. Describe the community or neighborhood where the school is found. Describe the school campus. The school is surrounded of residential houses from middle class family to bellow average range of family. The roads going to school are narrow. The school campus is surrounded with plants and trees. The surroundings is clean and refreshing to look at. The buildings are in good condition, safe and well ventilated. Offices are not really spacious but not crowded as well. Things are properly places Comfortable. The school has lessons for foreign language like Nihonggo and French. Rooms are provided separately for these classes. The school has this internet room that enables to internet connection on the School campus for faculty members.

Be guided by these tasks as you do your observation. Then accomplish the matrix to record your data. 1. Look at the walls of the classroom. What are posted on the walls? What heroes, religious figures, lessons, visual aids, announcements, do you see posted? Examine how the furniture is arranged. Where is the teachers table located? How are the tables and chairs/desks arranged? What learning materials/equipment are present? Observe the students. How many are occupying one room? Is the room well-lighted and well-ventilated?

CLASSROOM FACILITIES MATRIX Description (location, number, arrangement, condition) Walls are well painted. With ceiling/wall fans mounted to it. Has wallclock. One in front and one at the back of the room. The table in front is for the materials used in the discussion. Long table is used normally for a science Class. White board is used normally for teachers notes. Pictures from textbook, apparatus in actual, textbook. Storage for material/apparatus (booklets, books, learning kit etc.) Enough for all students. Quality chairs. (do not break easily) Students would remove their shoes upon Entering the classroom. Both sides of the room are surrounded with windows. Classroom is well ventilated.

It shows that the school has an effective learning environment. The space of the room is enough for the students. Materials, visual kits, apparatus, laboratories etc. are provided for the students learning. Each classroom has corresponding identification that its an English Room or Science Room because of posters on the wall, learning materials, equipment. Like for example in the music room, a piano, guitars and drumset is provided for the students. White boards are normally used for each classroom. The classroom is well lighted and ventilated. There are 3 fourthfloor buildings. The condition of the building is good and painted in light color.Its safe because from second floor up to the 4th floor, it has grills for the students protection.

Your Analysis How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact on the learning of the students going to school? What are your conclusions? Students learning is an on-going process. It should not be bounded by the confines of traditional class time and space. There should be developed number of structural programs to promote student and faculty interaction even outside the classroom. Each program intends to create the opportunity for faculty and students to share meaningful time._

How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent development/ How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?

Children have many milestones as the develop in young adults. These milestones sometimes pose physical, emotional, social and academic challenges. Aside from family, specifically the parents who help on the development of their children, the school plays a big role in facilitating learning and an aide for students to further nurture their skills, abilities, intellectual aspect etc._

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning? I would say that a school campus is conducive for learning if the school surroundings is clean. Also, its necessary for the school campus to be surrounded with trees, plants and flowers. A conducive learning is a clean and refreshing environment.__________

3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning? A well ventilated and well lighted room is necessary for conducive learning. Students cannot focus on the lesson if the classroom si not relaxing to stay at. Students becomes irritable and interest is lost. Also, materials for learning should readily be available._

4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3? I think to accomplish a class that is conducive to learning is a teacher should be working with the school personnels and students parents. Each one can contribute to improve the classroom. The teacher cannot do it alone. Each one can participate and support not because of self-interest but for students development._

5. Write your additional learnings and insights here. Being a teacher is not merely teaching but being flexible and resourceful as well to impart learning. There are parents that are really supportive to the school in general just do not abuse them._
