This edition was prepared from manuscript parts, preserved in the
Uppsala Universitetsbibliotek, as a part of the famous Dben Collection with the
signature Vmhs 3:1. This source is one of two sources where one can find this great
expressive work. The other as part of the legendary Altbachisches Archiv can be
found at the Singakademie zu Berlin.

My intention was to follow the original as far as possible, whereas the text and the
notation itself was modernized in some cases.
Accidentals, slurs etc. have only been added when obviously necessary and are marked
(accidentals in brackets, slurs dotted etc.) .

My heartfelt thanks to Anders Edling from the Department of Manuscripts and Music at
the Uppsala University Library for the kind permission to publish this edition.
This edition was prepared from the desire to help the music of this still too unknown
composer coming across a wider audience. May it do its work properly.
