Introduction
Ethiopia has embarked on a process of reforming its TVET-System. Within the policies and strategies of the Ethiopian Government, technology transformation by using international standards and international best practices as the basis, and, adopting, adapting and verifying them in the Ethiopian context is a pivotal element. TVET is given an important role with regard to technology transfer. The new paradigm in the outcome-based TVET system is the orientation at the current and anticipated future demand of the economy and the labor market. The Ethiopia Occupational Standard (EOS) is the core element of the Ethiopian National TVET-Strategy and an important factor within the context of the National TVET-Qualification Framework (NTQF). They are national Ethiopian standards, which define the occupational requirements and expected outcome related to a specific occupation without taking TVET delivery into account. This document details the mandatory format, sequencing, wording and layout for the Ethiopia Occupational Standard which comprised of Units of Competence. A Unit of Competence describes a distinct work activity. standard format that comprises: Occupational title and NTQF level Unit title Unit code Unit descriptor Elements and Performance criteria Variables and Range statement Evidence guide It is documented in a

Performance Criteria 1.1 Job specifications are checked for requirements including quantity, quality and special requirement. 1.2 Performance parameters are identified to the extent required to be able to report known or suspected problems. 1.3 Production processes are monitored to ensure consistency with specified outcomes. 1.4 Job records and other documentation are maintained. 1.5 Monitoring is conducted according to OHS practices.

Performance Criteria 1.1 Projected requirements regarding stock supplies, product quantities, quality and delivery schedules are confirmed. 1.2 Identified issues and problems concerning projected requirements are resolved in collaboration with relevant personnel. 1.3 Requirements for implementation of organizational systems are determined.
2. Gather specific production information

Element 1. Determine required specifications 2. Set machine
Performance Criteria 1.1 Required specifications for raw materials, product and machine are identified and interpreted for application in the testing and setting up process. Machine is cleaned and set in accordance with raw material and product specifications and machine manufacturer and workplace procedures. During setting and testing, condition of work area around machine is maintained to meet workplace and OHS practices. Machine operation is checked to ensure correct operation. Where appropriate, a sample is produced and checked for conformance with workplace requirements and product standards and further adjustment is made until sample meets specifications. Appropriate diagnostic procedures and tests are used to locate and identify faults in the machine. Correct hand tools and measuring equipment are chosen and use to rectify problems. Major problems in machine are identified and reported. Minor problems, which are within the operator's skill level, are identified and adjustments or repairs are assessed . Environmental requirements and procedures concerned with waste, pollution and recycling of materials are correctly applied at all stages of the process. Adjustments or corrections are assessed consistent with operator's skill level. Machine is checked to ensure correct operation. Correct hand tools and measurement equipment are chosen and used to correct problem. Records and other documentation of setting and maintenance work are clearly and accurately completed.
