Is Satan In The Abyss?

K____ wrote:

It's funny that our flesh wants and is content with staying where it is. You can plainly see it in
the word. If God had not driven the man and women out of the garden, they would've been
content with where they were. Look at the tower of Babel. God confused the language so that
his people would scatter. If God had not called Abraham from his people he never would've had
a desire to leave. Israel had to be pushed out of Egypt and then had to be forced to go in and take
the promised land from the giants in the land. The flesh never wants to spiritually progress for
spirit grows the deader the flesh becomes with the ultimate conclusion being complete and total
death of the flesh. All through scripture God's people are always moving east toward the sun. I
try to take this and live my life with this same attitude of always progressing to the Son, Jesus
until I finally take a firm hold on the promised land. You know I stumble and fall all the time,
but I am so thankful that God has not given me a spirit of failure and to always press onward
toward the higher calling.

I have a question, Mike. Is Satan being abyssed the same as Joseph being thrown into a well?
Just wondering.

Take care,
K____
Hi K____,

Thank you for your question.

Before answering your question let me say that you are so right about God having to drag us to
where He wants us to be. The fact that orthodox Christianity want to return to the untried and
untested nakedness of Eden, makes that point abundantly clear. But that is all by His design. It
simply isn't natural to want to go into a burning fiery furnace as we all must do:
1 Cor 3:13 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it
shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.
1 Pet 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as
though some strange thing happened unto you
While it may not be natural to want our faults and shortcomings burned out of us, it is still
possible, if Christ is in us, to rejoice even in these fiery trials:
1 Pet 4:13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory
shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
You ask:

"Is Satan being abyssed the same as Joseph [and Jeremiah was thrown into the pit] being thrown
into a well? Just wondering."
It is true that we all experience "every word of God" in the sense that we are "in Christ" and
Christ is the beginning and the end.
Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
So "in Christ" we actually do have a place and time in our lives where Satan, as he was with Job,
is hedged out of our lives and held back in "the abyss.". During that time, we are protected from
his hurtful influence upon us, and we are not tried and tested simply because we are not yet ready
to be tried and tested. But in God's appointed time, that hedge must come down and Satan must
"ascend up out of the bottomless pit" to sting us with the tails of his scorpions as the "angel of
the bottomless pit." While the ministers of Babylon say "Thus saith the Lord when the Lord has
not spoken," they tell us that these tail are "stinger missiles" and other such total speculation. But
the scriptures leave nothing to speculation and tell us plainly that "the tail is the false prophet that
prophesies lies."
Isa 9:15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is
the tail.
That is in complete accord with another function of these locusts with stingers. We are also told
this about these locusts:
Rev 9:2 And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke
of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit.
Rev 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given
power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
In the language of the scriptures darkness and lies are one and the same thing, and besides we are
also told that we must "keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book."
Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of
this book.
It follows that Satan is then, as you put it, 'abyssed' at his appointed time in our lives. But if He
is put into the abyss he must also be released to deceive the seven nations and kings on the seven
heads of the beast within us.
Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on
which the woman sitteth.
Rev 17:10 And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet come;
and when he cometh, he must continue a short space.
These "seven kings" are the seven heads on that one single beast within each of us.

"Five are fallen, one is, and the other is not yet come, certainly points to the Is, Was and Will Be
nature of Christ and His words, a concept which the natural man, the man without wisdom,
cannot understand:
1 Cor 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?
even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1 Cor 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1 Cor 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but
which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1 Cor 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are
foolishness unto him: neither can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned.
"Man's wisdom" teaches that there is no beast within, and there certainly are not seven nations
within that beast.
Nothing incites the anger of the natural man more than being told that he cannot understand the
things of the spirit of God. The natural man believes that to be a lie. The natural man truly
believes that all he needs is a good concordance, and then all he needs is to remember to always
keep everything in context, and then he can understand the things of the spirit of God.

But the Truth remains:

Matt 13:11 He answered and said unto them, [I speak in parables] Because it is given unto you
to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
1 Cor. 2:14 (a) Neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
So the answer to your question is yes, Satan Is, Was and Will Be being cast into the bottomless
pit, while we all live out our millennium, just as Job's "hedged" in life typifies in us all. But that
hedge will also be taken down in the lives of us all, and Satan will go forth and deceive the
nations within us all just as he did in Job's case. And when the entire plan of God has run its
course, whether now, while in these vessels of clay, or later as spirits in a symbolic lake of fire,
mankind will all "live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God..."
Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every
word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
...and will "keep the sayings of the prophecy of this book for the time is at hand" to do so:
Rev 1:3 Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep
those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

Rev 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of
this book.
I hope that answers your question.

Mike
