Mr. David Lloyd 2513 Queenston Rd Cleveland Hts, OH 44118-4317 (216) 371-1397 Oct 14, 2011 Senator Robert Portman Russell Senate Office Building, Room 338 Constitution and Delaware Avenues, NE Washington, DC 20510-3506 Subject: Sen. Portman I'm Disappointed You Voted Against Good Jobs Dear Senator Portman, With nearly 30 million Americans unemployed or seeking more work, President Obama's American Jobs Act is a critical piece of legislation that would create almost two million good jobs and put our economy back on the path to recovery. It should have passed. Your vote against the American Jobs Act proves that you don't understand the struggles of everyday Americans. Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children.
Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. David Lloyd

Your actions towards not helping the working class of people is exactly the reason why I did not vote for you and based on the track records of the Republican Party I will never vote for any Republican Politician as unhappy as I am with the Democratic Party. The reason our Country is in this shape is, our Elected Politicians that Supported and Helped passed Nafta. The Jobs all went Overseas to other Countries, due to Corporate Greed to make the Almighty Buck at the Cost of Made In America. Big Greedy Corporations and Politicians Bought and Paid for by them will eventually have their Day of Reckoning when enough Hard working People Like me gets Fed Up enough! It is time all members of Congress stopped taking positions for the sake of ideology, political positioning, and self-perpetuating power. How can you not look at the American people and see that the policies of you and your party have implemented and "hyped" for the past 11 years have infliced great pain and poverty on the American people than in any period since the Great Depression?. It is time you actually took a hard look at the working and unemployed citizens of this country. Why don't you work in a Food Bank or free medical clinic, not for political gain, but more as an "undercover" boss. It would give you the real picture. Charitable resources are drying up, along with the public programs, as prices in the grocery and at the gas pump increase significantly. You need to get in touch with reality and vote for legislation that helps the working American, not your donors. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mrs. Marilyn Harshman

I know President Obama loves the country. I would like to think that Republicans love the country more than they hate Obama, but this isn't very clear to me. You stand in the way of everything he tries--and he tries good things, except for staying in the wars. Clean energy, saving the car industry, concern with people haveing access to health care like other civilized countries, spending money on America's infrastructure-lord knows this country needs fixing. I do not recall any Republican president ever leading us out of a recession, except maybe Reagan and he RAISED taxes. Recessions were mild when regulations were in place preventing Wall street, the banks, hedge funders from jeopardizing this country's sound footing. Support his efforts to create jobs. Support ending the wars and defunding the military comples that sucks this country dry of funds and soul. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Have you forgotten that there is another half of the equation in your so-called "Job Creators" rhetoric? That would be the American consumer, who BUYS the products the businessman makes. Each must have the other. America will no longer be able to afford a strong military, nor will we have police to keep our streets safe for the poor NOR wealthy Senators like yourself. You are so fond of the the new global economy- pray tell, Senator, what country would you like to move to? the street protests you see right now are just a beginning of the mayhem that is certain to come as unemployed, angry educated mobs realize that they have been royally screwed by the millionaires and billionaires that you keep voting to protect. The people of Ohio need jobs and the American Jobs Act is the answer to this problem. I am thoroughly disgusted with the what you and your party are doing to our country. Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children. Sen. Portman, I'm much more than disappointed you voted against good jobs, I am outraged. You campaigned, like most of your party on jobs, jobs, jobs and to work across party lines to help solve the multitude of problems facing this country and unemployment is the number one issue facing millions of Americans today. I joined the ranks of the over 14 million Americans unemployed on August 8th. Your no vote, along with virtually every other Republican, has cemented in the minds of all Americans, the outright recalcitrance and blatant partisanship of every Republican. Your only answer is no, no, no, except of course, to ever more tax cuts for the already wealthy. But thanks to your vote, this was the straw that broke the camels back. Millions of Americans have finally woke up and said enough. We have been beat down from our once reasonably comfortable life to a life of outright poverty and hardship. I have lived it myself during my working life and have been witness to the destruction of the middle class. America has fallen behind the rest of the world in infrastructure development. Our roads are a mess, bridges are now not a method to cross a river or ravine but a game of chance every time we cross them. Our rail system is atrocious and high speed rail is non-existent. Mass transit has been cut to the bone by Republicans. It is estimated America needs to invest some 4 to 6 trillion dollars to bring our roads, bridges and rail up to the same standards the rest of the developed world enjoys. President Obama's jobs plan would have been a start on these necessary improvements and it would get between 1.2 to 2.3 million unemployed people to do these needed jobs. But you joined the lemmings and voted no. Your partisan callousness should be cause for shame but that would insinuate a conscience. In closing, thank you for helping the 99% of us realize you have no desire to actually serve the public but instead you serve your own personal interests along with those of the rich and powerful . It's really sad you couldn't see who actually has the power in our democracy, the people. I will not forget your votes against the citizens of this nation and I will do all in my power to see you join the unemployed in your next bid for office.
Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. Douglas Orians

Instead of ignoring the millions of unemployed across the country, and siding with millionaires and billionaires, you, Senator, should be helping working families put food on the table, fill up our gas tanks, help us keep our homes and provide a better future for our children. Senator Portman, Americans and especially citizens of our great state of Ohio are in the midst of one of the worst economic times this country and state have ever seen. President Obama has put forth legislation that will put many unemployed individuals back to work on much needed infrastructure projects. It will also begin to require those in this country who have the good fortune to have amassed large fortunes to pay their fare share in taxes to help support our country. In my opinion your vote against the President's Job Act was unconscionable.I am very disappointed in the position you have taken. If there was ever a time our elected officials need to stand up and help those less fortunate among us it is now. I regret my vote for you in the last election. Bob Plantz 28356 West Preston Place Westlake, OH 44145-6781 Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Mr. Robert Plantz

Dear Senator Portman: It is a great concern of mine that the very people we elect to represent us; do just the opposite. People in our state need help and we need jobs. You veto of the job act was very disappointing to say the least. We need real representation here, people are losing their homes like myself trying to make ends meet. Why don't you guys start taxing the rich and the hundreds of companies that receive tax abatements or pay no tax at all like the oil companies for example to solve your national debt woes instead of constantly passing it down to the little people. You should be doing what is best for citizens, not your party or those who fund it. The obstructionist stance of your party is part of the problem not a part of the solution. I am deeply disappointed in this congress for not working together to solve ALL of this country's problems. Your actions are irresponsible and inexcusable. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. It seems to me that politics has become more about taking the other side down than doing what's best for the American people. I see this in Democrats as well as Republicans, and I'm sick and tired of it. This is a bill that we need- how can the simple truth that America needs jobs become bi-partisan? Every serious economist and non-partisan source says that this bill will create jobs. I understand that a corporate controlled media is willing to give bumper sticker type phrases of conservative ideologies equal weight with the facts. I also understand and sympathize that these and other corporate sources of funding are necessary to your campaign funding. But if you're paying attention to the demonstrations relating to the 99%, you should realize that at actual voting time, regardless of the amount of funding you receive, you will be remembered either as a representative of those who you helped with jobs or as a representative of the broken and easily bought government. It may be possible, since you are early in your term, that you are more concerned with Obama's election defeat than you are with your successful re-election. But you might recall that you ran on creating jobs. Helping Ohio with jobs should be your first priority. This Jobs Bill is loaded with Republican and non-partisan ideas that should be easy for you to point to as you declare your concern for Ohio. It would define you as a leader of people instead of a follower of an ideology. Now is the time for you to ask yourself which is more important to you, and now is the time for you to show us where you stand. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. You are ignoring the fine people of Ohio who are unemployed and underemployed to curry favor with the corporations and rich who finance the cost of your campaigns. Oct 17, 2011 Senator Robert Portman Russell Senate Office Building, Room 338 Constitution and Delaware Avenues, NE Washington, DC 20510-3506 Subject: Sen. I called your office to encourage you to vote in support of the Jobs Act because we are in a crisis. Food banks and other agencies that assist people who have never been employed before are running out of resources. Your actions indicate that you are either out of touch with what is happening in Ohio or you don't care. The actions of yourself and other members of Congress will be recalled when it is time to vote for re-election. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working. Please stop holding up funding that will create the jobs that people in our communities need. Sincerely, Ms. Janet Stoneking

I know you are concerned about the deficit and government spending, and I appreciate that. But to reduce the debt, we need taxpayers with jobs that are taxed. First things first - get America working, and then work to reform the tax code and government spending. We are dangerously close to going the way of Italy and Greece, and only more people working will avert that. Senator Portman, I urge you to stop ignoring the men and women who want to be working.
