Discovery Home Care Inc.

Youth Emergency Care Shelter is a nonprofit organization providing temporary emergency shelter and many other services to youth ages 6 to 17 years. Discovery Home Care Inc, services youth in Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, Iredell, Stanley and Mecklenburg Counties with a lack of a place to call home. Children come into our care and families need our services for a variety of reasons. Our primary goal is to reunite the youth with his or her family when doing so is in the best interest of both the youth and the parents. When returning home is not in everyones best interest, we facilitate contact with the Department of Human Services or other community resources to further explore services and placement options.

Program Features:

Hours of Operation: 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

CLIENTS RIGHTS each child has the right to: (1) privacy; (2) be provided adequate food, clothing, and shelter; (3) have access to family time ; (4) have personal property

6-bed Emergency Youth Shelter. Trained 24-hour supervised care of children and youth in an attractive home-like environment. Family Style meals with opportunities for youth to participate in meal preparation. Social skills training, behavior modification, and corrective relationship building instruction. Recreational activities within the home and community. Coordination of educational services that are provided by the local public school district. Recreation activities, communication skills, social skills. Encourages family involvement when appropriate for reunification.
