Ministry Of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs

Ministry of Domestic Trade & Consumer Affairs functions to encourage the development of ethical domestic trade and to protect the interest and well being of consumers.

They regulate domestic trade through : Pricing of controlled goods Licensing, control, production, distribution and sale of controlled goods Develops and administers the intellectual property protection system. Licences the sale and distribution of petroleum and petrochemical products

They are also keen of consumers protection, such as : Registration of companies Registration of business Registration of patents and trade marks.

Ministry of International Trade and Industry


Ministry of International Trade and Industry plans, formulates and implements policies on

industrial development, international trade and investment. They also promote Malaysias exports of manufacturing products and services by strengthening bilateral, multilateral and regional trade relations and cooperation.

This department is keen of encouraging foreign and domestic investment. In other hand, they do enhance national productivity and competitiveness in the manufacturing sector. In the petroleum and petroleum products, industrial development has thrust the opportunities and developments in industries and services supported. Since 1993, Petronas, together with the Ministry of Finance, Vendor Development Programme, to assist the development of Bumiputera companies and local companies to explore oil and gas industry. Among the services provided by vendors include:

Seamanship services in oil (oil rig) Cooling systems (air-conditioning) in seamanship, seamanship Corrosion protection system / erosion (corrosian protection) Construction machinery plant Fabrication process equipment Specific management systems (such as that provided by Aquasis)

Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)


This department mainly functions to Increase productivity and competitiveness in agriculture, manufacturing and services sectors. They generate new sources of wealth in technology and knowledge-intensive sectors.

One of the recent activity launched by MOSTI is Virtual Office Environment @ MOSTI (VOE @ MOSTI) which is one of the most outgoing initiative to enhance ICT infrastructure development and intensifying ICT use among people.

They also provide services directly without regard to big companies and small companies by giving local funds available as ScienceFund, TechnoFund and The CIF prepared for improving and commercialize results of research in Science and Technology.

MOSTI also works through agencies under it, to continue having society relations. For example, where Department of Chemical Malaysia are able to do DNA tests for human genetic identification, testing for food to ensure food issued in Malaysia is harmless.
