Operation Christmas Child

Operation Christmas Child is the largest Childrens project in the world, run by the Christian charity Samaritans Purse. Last year children and adults wrapped and packed around 1.12 million shoe boxes full of gifts and goodies, which were then sent to disadvantaged children across Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia. I would like to encourage members of the church to take part and pack a shoe box for a disadvantaged child. Leaflets are now available on the welcome desk and shoe boxes are available to take. Please bring your completed shoe box to church on either 30th October or 6th November. If you need any further information please ask me. Thank you, Rachel Budby. WOW The WoW Christmas Fayre Wednesday is on 14th December 2011, Prince William Pub, Whitwood, to eat at 7.30 pm, 3 courses 7.50, menu on notice board. Full amount due to confirm place by 23rd October to Anne or Pat Hartley. ALL WELCOME. Church House Publishing CHP Launches app version of Bible reflections book. An app featuring daily reflections of Bible passages written by leading authors is now available to the millions of iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users. The Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir The Choir returns to the highest quality Sacred Music for its next 2 concerts, both featuring music from the Baroque period. On Saturday 29th October, 7.30 pm, in Wakefield Cathedral they will present Magnificat by J S Back, (perhaps the most famous of all church composers), with Mass in C Minor (often called The great C minor Mass by Mozart, (perhaps the most famous of all composers). Tickets are 12 (10 conc) with under 16s free. Tickets are available from 01924 364862 or YPCtickets@googlemail.com or see Derek Howell or Stephanie Woodhead in the next two weeks. For your diary: As a result of how well this was received last year, on Sunday 20th November at 7.30 pm, replacing the Cathedral's evening worship, the YPC are once more presenting Messiah, Handels choral masterpiece which centres around the first and second comings of Christ. Attending Messiah, annually, usually in the approach to Advent and Christmas, was once a great tradition in this part of the world, that may no longer be generally so, but it can be a moving and blessed experience, so if you havent done so for some time, or ever, why not take the opportunity. Tickets will be similarly priced and available soon, watch for a further notice, or order them from Derek or Stephanie in advance. Tanzania - The Next Chapter A service of celebration at 4.00 pm on Sunday 6th November at St Thomas Church Batley. See notice board for more details.
