TH 30TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

OCTOBER 23RD, 2011

PRAYERS FOR THE DECEASED: We pray for our loved ones who have died recently. PRAYERS FOR THE SICK AND SHUT-IN: Let us raise up in prayer those who seek Gods healing love, those at the hospital, hospice and at home especially Pat Preen, John Albert, Joan Faye Prince and Gladys McNulty. May your struggle be consoled by Christs love.

ON OUR WAY WITH JESUS: Our annual program to assist parents in the preparation of their children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is about to begin. Registration forms are available at the parish office. We would ask that parents make every effort to register as soon as possible.
Our first family meeting (parent & child) is this Monday, Oct. 24th at 7:30 p.m.
REVISION OF THE ROMAN MISSAL REVISED ROMAN MISSAL: CHANGES TO THE CREED We will note several changes to both the Nicene Creed and the Apostles Creed. The Nicene Creed will now begin "I believe" just as the Apostles Creed does. The entire assembly is asked to make the gesture of a slight bow at the words "and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man." What does consubstantial with the Father mean? Consubstantial with the Father means that Jesus and God the Father are of the same stuff. Its a word that dates from the early centuries of the Church, as the Christian community struggled to articulate its faith in the Trinity, and its experience of the oneness of God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. What does descended to hell mean? The word hell, in the Catholic theological tradition, can have two meanings, the place of eternal separation from God and the place of the dead. The Creed refers to this last understanding. Novalis, 2011. All rights reserved. May be reprinted in parish bulletins without further permission RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (R.C.I.A) will begin meeting on Thursday, November 3rd from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the parish meeting room. Do you know someone who wishes to discern baptism or full communion as a member of the Catholic Church? Please call Father Ryan Holly at the parish office or email him at parochialvicar@gmail.com for more information.
The Way We Pray Reflects What We Believe: Why Do That When We Celebrate the Eucharist? A presentation by Father Ryan Holly on Tuesday, November 1st at 7:00 p.m. in St. Francis Xavier Church about the structure and meaning of how we pray the Mass in light of the new General Instruction of the Roman Liturgy and new translation of the Roman Missal. Whether you have been a Catholic your entire life or have been away, this is an invitation to rediscover and deepen our understanding and belief. This is also meant to be a thoroughly practical opportunity to explore and ask questions about the changes that are taking place in the liturgy in parishes across Canada. All are welcome. All Souls Day: November 2, 2011 The Commemoration of the Faithful Departed will be marked on Wednesday, November 2nd with a special Mass at 7:00 p.m. when we will pray for our loved ones who have gone before us in death. In a special way we extend a special invitation to the family and friends of those who have died in the past year to attend this celebration of the Eucharist.
