Bob Levine (55+ The Legends)

One of the hallmarks of MSBL / MABL is the representation of the complete spectrum of careers represented among teams. Managing the 55+ Legends is Dr. Robert Levine, perhaps the manager most involved in the health of his players. A Scottsdale resident formerly from New York City, Bob is a dentist with a passion for educating the baseball community about the significant dangers of smokeless tobacco. He also is the Director of Laser Sciences at Arizona State University, and the clinical director of the AEGD post-graduate program. His work with the Seattle Mariners, screening all players and personnel during Spring Training has led to an invitation to address MLB owners at their annual meeting December 3rd in Dallas. His research on direct links between tobacco use and oral cancer is the first project in twenty years to confirm the problem. Bob got involved with MSBL like so many of us, when he was spotted at a batting cage with his nephew and was invited to play on a local team. After managing four years which include an MSBL championship, two appearances in the semifinals, and one quarterfinals, Bob still believes that the great friendships he has developed are the real motivation for him to continue playing. Having missed the last several years, he is excited about returning to the Worlds Largest Baseball Tournament this year. Bobs teammates can be assured that he is not only concerned about their success on the field, but deeply committed to keeping them healthy enough to continue for a very long time.

Playoffs Arrive For 35+ / 55+ 18+ / 25+ Teams Finish Up

18+ MABL Federal Kansas City Rebels pitcher Mike Neal was on the mound yesterday at Tempe Diablo Stadium against the OC Wolves, who won the game with a walk off single.

Everybody enjoys a cold beverage after the game, especially when the temperature is in the high 90s. However the last two days the MSBL / MABL WS staff has received a couple complaints from the facility directors that some of our players are consuming these beverages in the parking lot after the game. In one case, a few players were drinking between games. Needless to say thats not allowed and the consequences for any player (s) involved could be expulsion from the tournament. Pool play games end today for the 18+ MABL divisions and the 25+ Wood Bat divisions. As always a key factor in determining playoff teams is runs allowed. After head to head play its the first tie breaker. Team managers should make sure to check their runs allowed that are posted on the website to verify the total. And remember, all teams must bat a minimum of 10 batters. If one team only has 9 players, then the other team has the option of matching that number as well. This evening at Tempe Diablo Stadium, the MSBL / MABL will host the annual Welcome Bar B Q for all participants. Good food and a great environment will be waiting for any of the teams and players who attend. The event begins at 5:00pm and any player who needs an extra ticket can purchase one at the door for $9.

Remember - No Drinking or Tobacco products are allowed on the fields during the MSBL / MABL World Series.
