ABSTRACT

.Under construction.

INTRODUCTION

In this study, the class cumulatively gathered information regarding physical characteristics of individuals as well as their daily habits and income. We and asked their opinion in regards to politics, medical policies and marital issues. The goal is to see if there is any correlation between the things the characteristics they possess and the attitude they have towards these highly controversial topics. It is my hypothesis that there is no direct relation to the persons gender, social status or physical characteristic to that of their opinion. I take this approach because I believe that though we might have the same income and skin color as the person next door, it has nothing to do with our personality we have come to develop due to our experiences in life that affect our opinions on controversial issues.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Human beings were the objects of this study. They were randomly selected by the classmates and brought together. From there I have taken a sample size of 40 people to work with and analyze.

RESULTS

According to my results there was no relationship between any appropriate combination of a persons height, weight, ring size or shoe size. I have included my findings below:

I did find a direct relationship between a persons gender and their income. The average income for males was $55,943.33 while the average income for females was $38,866.67. I found that largely most Republicans feel Obama will not be re-elected, they are not in favor of the new Health Care Bill and they are in favor of the death penalty. Democrats largely feel Obama will be re-elected, they are unsure about how they feel about the Health Care Bill and they are also in favor of the death penalty. Independents largely feel Obama will not reelected, they are in favor of the Health Care Bill and they are split on their opinion of the death penalty. The Other category was all over the board and there was not enough data to conclude whether they felt strongly towards one opinion or another. I have included my data below:
Political Party Republican Democrat Independent Other Feels Obama Will Be Re-elected 2 8 2 2 Feels Obama Will Not Be Re-elected 7 4 5 0 Is Unsure 3 3 2 2

Republican Democrat Independent Other

In Favor Of Health Care Bill 2 5 0 1

Is Not In Favor Of Health Care Bill 10 3 5 2

Is Unsure 0 8 3 1

Republican Democrat Independent Other

In Favor Of Death Penalty 8 9 4 2

Not In Favor Of Death Penalty 3 6 5 1

Is Unsure 1 0 0 1

I also found that people that are right-handed consume almost more than twice as much water on a daily basis than those who are left handed or ambidextrous. Included is my data below:
Average Consumption of Water (In Ounces, Daily) 53.3 24.4 24

Handedness Right Left Ambidextrous

I studied the relationship between education level and political party. I found that the majority of the Masters degrees belonged to Republicans and Independents while no Democrats or other affiliated parties held Master Degrees. The Independent party was the only one with a Bachelors Degree and the high school education was pretty well spread out. The data is included below:
Political Party Republican Democrat Independent Other High School Education 7 9 4 3 Associate's Degree 2 6 2 1 Bachelor's 0 0 1 0 Master's 3 0 2 0

I also studied the relationship of political party and stand on Proposition 8. I found that majority of Republicans and other political parties are in favor of Proposition 8 and that most Democrats and Independents are not in favor. Included is my data below:
Prop 8 For Against Republican 10 2 Democrat 5 10 Independent 2 7 Other 3 1

DISCUSSION Due to my findings in this experiment, my hypothesis is accurate. A persons physical characteristics have little to do with their political choices. However, I did find that their political choices have much to do with their opinions on many different controversial issues. The parties primarily had the same opinion as those affiliated with their same party.
